Amazing detail... :o
great work nice skecthy look to it
wow, thats amazing O_O
That looks fantastic for 30 minutes of work! Love the detail in it :D
VERY GOOD FOR SPEED PAINTING
I dunno... You could have put in a lot more shading and structural focus for 30 minutes. I also think the shading itself is done quite... Not rough, but sort of, scruffy. I don't really know the word for it, but it doesn't seem like the kind of shading style that would come naturally in a speed painting. The lighting itself is off, unless there are a couple of separate lighting points, which I don't think you intentionally put in.
No you're right, the light source is off. It was more of a study then anything. I'm really new to the painting thing and I was just trying to get a better understanding on how the bone structure for the hand works.
I would really appreciate some tips on how to capture better use of light sources. (I was trying to emulate a light source on top of the hand)
Also I used the wrong terminology, I guess it's not considering speed painting. It was more of a quick sketch.
Amazing work for 30 minutes. Do you have a tablet?
Yes sir, teh Wacom Intuos 2 series.

Woah... Intuos2 and Intous3 look mega different! :o I was expecting them to look somehwat similar at least...

My Intous3
XD I like the intuos 2 because it gots that strip along the top with the commands.
But the 3 looks pretty sexy in your picture. The pictures on the website scared me.
Hmm, if you're learning anatomy theres no REAL point in doing in-depth studies of bones, other than the basic shapes, as it is the muscles that you will really need to know about.
As for tablets..
I made a band websites for some guys I know, and they (generously) gave me a split of some of their last gigs profits for doing it for them, so I went out and got myself a Wacom Graphire 3 - Its pretty small, 4x6 or something, but it'll do until xmas when I get some money to get an Intuos like you guys ^^.
And its better than the Graphire 2 I used to have till I broke it >.>
If anyones up for an openCanvas Session sometime gimme a buzz via pm or MSN, or if you want to do a collab in painter/photoshop(though im not so good at painting in PS) again, give me a buzz :D
Seki
What IS OpenCanvas? I've wanted to know for ages...
I think it's a painting program.
I have a wacom intuos2 6x8. Ive used a 9x12 but it was hard to make any decent strokes because it was so large. Using it just as a mouse was impossible, I had to practically lean forward just to close a window.
Nice speed sketch, looks pretty good. I don't really know what to tell ya because I don't do quick sketches or speed paintings. I'm about 15-16 hours into my halo brushing and im only about 10% done, if that.
Good God Jack. I hope it's bloody good when it's finished! :P
And I know what you mean about the big tablets... My mate has an A4 Intuos and I hate it. By the time you've finished making a stroke you're across the bloody room, it's outrageous.
i thought it said speed plant at first. im like damn they grow that shit now?
Nice work, thats pretty cool.
hmm anatomy... bones.... dont do bones , look more at muscle and how skin tones change depending on the muscle underneath them ect.
Well I was planning on trying a piece focused on the skeletal structure of the hand.
what for, i just dont see how doing skeletal stuff helps you understand anatomy... when most of anotomy is muscular structure.
w/e do what you please but muscles are really what should be focused on :P
