Thought I'd start a few threads :) Mostly debates.
Don't get too passionate, just state your view + answers.
Do you smoke? I personally do not.
Do you think it's right? No, I believe if you smoke, you are cutting your life expectancy in half, also, you are just paying to kill yourself. You smell if you smoke, (breath, etc) and it's just a disgusting habit. I'm all for banning smoking.
What are your views?
I only smoke on party's its relaxing..
The reason I dont smoke during normal days is because the smell.. and it costs alot of money

My girlfriend smokes, and when she smokes a cig beside me i can't stand the smoke. I tried smoking a cigarette before, and threw up straight away.. :lol:
I deffinitly can't wait untill they enforce the ban in pubs here in uk/n.ire. I live close to the border of the south of ireland were they have the ban enforced and it has worked exceptionally well there. Don't get me wrong you still have the few people who can't come to term's with it, but over all i think it has been a huge sucess.
you can say the same about driving a car.
In statistics it's much more dangerous and it destroys nature.
Driving a car is something which everyone really needs to do.
Driving a car doesn't have the same impact of smoking, yes it kill people.
But smoking shortens peoples lives much much more!! With driving a car, there is a chance you will have an accident, but with smoking, you are guaranteed to cut your life short.

the problem with smoking is that the smoker is not the only one getting the bad stuff in his body.
If you want to smoke or get drunk. But dont do it in the public. Alcohol is the main reason of a lot of car accidents.
And the fact is that smoking is bad, noone can deny that.
There are always exceptions, you dont have to crash when you are drunk and you dont have to die sooner when u smoke. But do you want to take the risk?

i jsut smoked a ciggie :), i smoke occassionaly, like elementz say in parties or when sum frined are smoking we share, but i dont smoke normally. :) , weed tried it but not have done it since.

I smoke tobacco and weed, but I'm not inconsiderate. I'll only smoke outdoors, or if I'm in a room where everyone smokes. I won't smoke if I don't have 5 minutes to stand outside to let the smell drift away before joining others.

^ agree with Nike. You don't heal after 5 years. The tar in your lungs just doesn't go away, it has nowhere to go. It just sits there deteriorating them.

Hmm, well, according to the health officers that visited my high school, until the age of 35, if you quit smoking, then in 5 years time, your body will function as if you have never smoked - ofcourse the tar will still be in your lungs, and ofcourse you will still have a chance of getting cancer, but thats years down the line - I dont want to live till im really old - I've seen how difficult it is to get from day to day at old age.

I'm sorry to hear that people you know have passed away at such a young age. However, I choose to smoke, I don't smoke in the presence of people who don't smoke unless they say they're happy for me to do so. Yeah, Tar sure is a main problem with smoking, - but you do realize, that in any metropolitan area - you're probably inhaling far more dangerous substances than tar, and they'll be building up.Quote:

I take some pride in the fact that i've resisted, and dont plan on, taking any other drugs other than those afformentioned, alcohol and charlie, and considering the habits of the younger population of Glasgow, I dont think thats too bad, considering the number of teens in glasgow who are crack/smack addicts... I can think of 10 off the top of my head,.. and also considering how easy it is to get both drugs, and how many times ive been offered them.
I smoke cannabis because I choose to; because its a great social drug - there is nothing more hilarious than chilling in your room with your mates, getting a toke and watching some otherwise-not-funny-at-all film and gutting yourself with laughter.
Plus, I have found that it increases my creative drive, and some of my best artworks have been produced whilst stoned :).
A light-hearted joke which your "sense of humour" obviously couldnt pick up - but let me guess- you dont find stuff like this funny, well, you dont need to, but atleast respect my post and dont be like "WTFMANOMG".Quote:

P.S The real reason I said you obviously didnt spend more than a second reading that post is because I said absolutely nothing about tar leaving your lungs, I said your body regenerates - as in, if like me you smoke at current, you're no doubt quite useless at running - then after quitting for around 5 years, you would, in theory be able to exercise again as if you had never smoked - as your arteries would eventually clear up. It would, obviously differ from person to person
I cant prove this, this is just what I was tought by way of "drug education" in primary school and secondary school.
And i'm now just trying to explain to you what I meant.

On reading it again, I notice there are several data errors such as using different years used in comparing the life expectancy with the percentage of the population smoking.
No i'm not suggesting that, I'm just saying that even if smoking was totally banned, the amount of traffic/industrial pollution in the air would be just as detrimental to ones health.Quote:

No, actually, "Personal Troubles" was reffering to some rather harsh family troubles I have suffered in the last year, toking helped illeviate the downer that put me on - I'm rather glad I chose that as apposed to alcohol, as the year could have ended up much much worse.Quote:

And social situations as referring to the fact that in the last year there, me and my friends have been to parties pretty much every week, where many have all sorts of drugs, and so dope has become much more easily accessed.
I have not been "caught doing drugs", my mum allows me to do so aslong as its outside the house - which I believe is a smarter move than being ignorant and then in an emergancy not know what could be in my system - she knows I wouldnt touch anything else.

What license? I'm 16, I cannot drive anyway, and as for "Immature Actions" .. ehh naw, I'm into having a good time I don't have time for shit like that anymore, left stuff like fighting, vandalism etc behind when I was 14 after an incident which if you wish to hear, id be happy to share, although I shalln't post it just now as it is irrelevant to the topic.
Around here, a junky is known as someone who is addicted to hard drugs (heroin, crack, coke) and the image brought to mind is of someone who steals to feed their habit - I dont know if that is the same opinion as shared by you/people in your area.Quote:

"like drinking" - nah, I dont like being out of control - its fair enough at parties or at the pub/club - a place with lots of people and a good atmosphere - I wouldn't drink just to chill - thats a bad trap to get into, as alcohol is arguably far worse than cannabis in both its long and short term effects, for example - who do you know who, whilst on cannabis alone, has beaten their wife, kid, or started a fight, assaulted someone randomly/for no reason. Liver cancer seems to be a far worse disease than lung cancer (from the images of George Best on his deathbed, aswell as family members, thats enough to put me off drinking very regularly).
I go to the movies regularly :) its fun, but even more so when stoned :D.

I did not say he's judging me, the statement was not directional, mearly a point that my non-smoking/toking friends do not judge me on the fact that I chose to smoke/toke - perhaps I could have made that clearer in my post.
No, actually, "Personal Troubles" was reffering to some rather harsh family troubles I have suffered in the last year, toking helped illeviate the downer that put me on - I'm rather glad I chose that as apposed to alcohol, as the year could have ended up much much worse.
And social situations as referring to the fact that in the last year there, me and my friends have been to parties pretty much every week, where many have all sorts of drugs, and so dope has become much more easily accessed.
I have not been "caught doing drugs", my mum allows me to do so aslong as its outside the house - which I believe is a smarter move than being ignorant and then in an emergancy not know what could be in my system - she knows I wouldnt touch anything else.

What license? I'm 16, I cannot drive anyway, and as for "Immature Actions" .. ehh naw, I'm into having a good time I don't have time for shit like that anymore, left stuff like fighting, vandalism etc behind when I was 14 after an incident which if you wish to hear, id be happy to share, although I shalln't post it just now as it is irrelevant to the topic.
Around here, a junky is known as someone who is addicted to hard drugs (heroin, crack, coke) and the image brought to mind is of someone who steals to feed their habit - I dont know if that is the same opinion as shared by you/people in your area.
I have the self control not to try such hard drugs - ive tried coke but I thought it was shit and a waste of money, and so shallnt try that again, the other two carry such a stigma with them that i would never allow myself to touch either.

"like drinking" - nah, I dont like being out of control - its fair enough at parties or at the pub/club - a place with lots of people and a good atmosphere - I wouldn't drink just to chill - thats a bad trap to get into, as alcohol is arguably far worse than cannabis in both its long and short term effects, for example - who do you know who, whilst on cannabis alone, has beaten their wife, kid, or started a fight, assaulted someone randomly/for no reason. Liver cancer seems to be a far worse disease than lung cancer (from the images of George Best on his deathbed, aswell as family members, thats enough to put me off drinking very regularly).
I go to the movies regularly :) its fun, but even more so when stoned :D.

I actually agree on some of the things you said. Especially the drinking. That is totally right except I do it. Which makes it better than Cannabis. On the whole "Mom lets me smoke aslong as I'm outside." bit. I doubt your mom says, "SMOKE SMOKE SMOKE!" She probably thinks your not doing it. And if she is allowing you to it. Your mother isn't fit to be a parent. I hope that doesn't offend you. I am just stating the facts. Anyways!
The Gauntlet 2 is a great show. If you like the Real World bit and stuff. It takes people from the Real World and some /*/ show. And makes them do challenges and stuff. Pretty neat.
I live in Ohio my area thinks junkies are pot. coke, crack. A firepit is a ... pit where a fire is in. Hence the name. Firepit. ;)
