hmmm weird, i donno what would make that happen. the game file might be corrupted.
Most probably the video card. The game may require the computer to run in 1032x1032 res. but the video card cannot handle it and tries switching modes but cannot. Or as Illegal said a game file may be corrupted.
I have had problems with the video card being laggy and not being able to run the game. Another problem may be the memory required to run the game. There is a requirement for the game to have so much physical memory and if there is not enough then it may shut down.
well, these games worked fine before with my video card, and it's happening different now, dunno why, i mean, when i like, try to start nhl 2002, and game's starting, like u know a blank screen shows up and then, weirdly, blue screen shows up with some text that i can't read cuz then in 1 second computer starts to restart itself like wtf......
It sounds like you need to upgrade your video drivers. Find out what card you have and go to the website and find the newest drivers.
Also consider that you may have a virus that is doing that.
BSOD!!! O_O
reformat if nothing works
It could be a video card error, although I know there is a virus that does something very similar.
It only happens when you try to run games?
I got it, i made it stop to automatically restart, so i read the error message on blue screen, i'ma copy and paste here in few hours.......1
it could be a couple of things... the list includes:
memory
GPU
CPU
MB
Drivers
Direct X
Most prob. suspect will be your GPU or memory... but you never know, could be Drivers or Direct X. If this is something that has happened recently then have a think about eveyrthing you have installed between when it was working and now, if any of them tried to update DirectX or drivers, then that may be the problem.
There's a good program called FreeMem that does an exhastive test on your memory, if it turns up any errors, then garenteed, thats the problem.
However because its happening for all games, when its trying to go into 3D mode, it sounds like its associated with your GPU. First try updating drivers, second check your BIOS settings and make sure nothing is enabled that shouldn't be, and then check Direct X.
Hope that helps, i know what a pain in the ass a problem like this can be.
Btw, I would leave reformatting as the last option, but you may be forced to.
Take my advice & re-formet ur comp.
Sorry Jimit87, but i have to disagree. Without the proper analysis, you have no idea if your recommendation will work.
Hanging of 3d can be caused by either hardware or software. If software it could be because of a driver.
So reformating if it is a hardware issue, will not make the problem disapear. Reformating if it is a driver issue will also not make it disappear as you would be installing the same drivers as being used.
I do recommend that you check your memory first, check your drivers, check direct x before taking the drastic course of a full reinstall.
reformatting should be your FINAL option. it's not something you do just cuz your frustrated. you need to know exactly what's wrong with the computer before you go that far. if you can post the error message, i could help you out some more. i had this same problem called "nv4_disp error". it turns out my vid card was bad even tho my pc was only a month old. i called dell and they sent a guy out, it works fine now. get that error message up if you can.
yea seriously. man, ask metal, he's obviously the smartest person on this site :p
Man ure not supplying enough detail, i need some specs and stuff :D
id recomend reinstalling the game or gettin a new graphics card. or summin like that should make it work again
video card, mother board, or too high temperature of procesor or hard disk,
one of these things
i had it too... troubles like these.....
Im pretty sure its called a RAM overdrive. I have it sometimes too. I think that its beacuse your computers doing so much other stuff, then it just gets loaded with a program/game, that it just craps out
Ide try closing everything befor it. AIM, MSN, PS, etc.
How much system memory do you have (RAM)?
