How did you start off?

Well, just thought I should make a thread explaining how we started off our sig-making and share your old, old, old work with us.

Shameful to say, I feel like a retard now, I started because I joined a clan on Runescape. I went of the clan forum and saw all these awesome (well, not awesome now of course) tags from members and decided I should give it a try on making them. Yeah, and then I started looking around on the internet for tutorials like mad.. newbie me :)

I remember the old days where most tutorials say: grab some random downloaded brushes, make the colour white and slap them on a layer. Then make a new layer and then slap them on again using black. Add a render, somehow try to blend it in and make a colour balance layer, use cloud filter effects on it, add a border and voila, you're done!

I, sadly, has lost my first sig made ever due because a couple of viruses thought they were too fugly. But I do have a couple of really old ones :D I'll try not to burn your eyes out.

awesome, i am loving the sigs and espeacily the picture of the cow :D
when i first started doing my sigs and stuff with photoshop it was becuase of a wrestling forum i was with, and they had a section for sigs, so i thought i would give it a crack....
unfortunatley i dont have any of them still on my computer...
it is probly for the best anyways... save me the embarsment :D

I started back in 2005 i guess, i would show you my old work, but sadly its on another computer that i dont have access to right now.

I started back in 2003. Joined AAOTracker after I started playing America's Army. They had a signature section, and I got hooked. Through influential members there I found some good gfx sites and went on to be a moderator and designer on a few. I gave up Americas Army. In 2005, the sites I had been on had died, so I joined CX. I didn't much like it, it was too busy and cranky. Gave up gfx soon after. Played Counter Strike and Call of Duty and other popular games with my friends a lot until mid 2006. Then I gave up computer stuff in general. Finally I got an email about this website, and I have become active online again in a few places. I hope to start getting back into gfx as well.

My original work is on my other computer.....too lazy to go to the other room right now.

lol... i was there before you!!!! but hmmm dunno why... no1 really payed me any attention when i joined... lol... not really untill i perswaded benny (ECN) to come here and that was much latter.

I started on a star wars RP forum my friend next door posted on. I never got into the rp side of things, though I still intend to do something with the chrono character someday, but I feel in love with the image tags everyone had for their charcter and started to learn image programs. Started out with a scaner program, then moved on to Paint Shop Pro, then finially found Photoshop. Then one day I was screwing around and went to the G4/tech tv forum and met everyone there and started to work on tagging with Senpuu, Trife, and everyone. I haven't stopped since...well the digital art side, I don't tag much now.

LOL, only reason I even bothered to post at CX at first was because everyone hated my work. This was back when everyone was still doing basic grunge sigs...so I found it interesting to post.

I remember everyone dissing my work on the RS forum and I somehow stumbled across CX, probably because of Metal's brushes. When did you start moving onto large artworks?

yeh i think thats how i found this place... metals brushes... either that or someone dragged me here lol.

Me? I started playing with them shortly after I came here. Never really stuck until the last few months though when tagging became really boring and I stopped finding as much fun with it.

I'm having so much fun looking at my old work on my PB account right now. >_< Its almost sad.

I lost all my old work on PB for some reason, no idea how. I find sig-making boring sometimes, but have no idea what to make or how to start for large artworks so I never really made any proper large pieces, though I tried making some :p

Yeah I tend to just sit here for hours clicking until I make something I think is good. Here lately I kind of doodle out the basic idea first and go from there though.

My best friend Daniel had a website on angelfire, and then he bought a domain/hosting and we started working on it together... We'd always affiliate with people who's layouts looks awesome and such, and I wanted to do some rad designs like that (I was about 11/12 at the time). So I started working on Paint Shop Pro and then moved on to Photoshop 7 after someone suggested it. We started up our own forums (my bff&I) and after seeing a lot of people's photoshop work they took me under their wings and helped me out with the basics and such. :]

Story of my e-life.

I don't have my first sigs on this PC, but I started out on the MxO (Matrix Online) forums during the summer of '04.
