The Joker, digital brushing WIP

Im working on this brushed piece of the joker..

Freehand drawing with a reference picture. Its obvioudly not finished, but i cant really finish it untill i get my new computer, since my current one cant process this one properly :S

man i need a fucking tablet.

:) guys its not enough to have the tablet ;p must be able to paint too :) Det ser mega fedt ud godt, jeg ville ønske jeg fik taget mig sammen og købt en tablet :) men skal snart have 450D så pengene er knap :I)

Tablet sure helps, but it cant work magic.. Ive been drawing pencil on paper all my life, and ive had this tablet for about a year soon.. it takes alot of time to learn..

but thanks :) ill besure to keep you updated about it when its done.. hopefully within this month, depending on when i get that new laptop :/

@daemon, tak :) de er klart pengene værd, og der findes jo flere modeller. de billigste koster omkring 500,- mener jeg gav omkring 2000,- for min.. gå efter mærket wacom klart de bedste! Hvor meget har du givet for det kamera?

Man this is crazy. lol i thought you modeled it or something at first, it's soo smooth.
Are you gonna draw the bricks and stuff in the BG as well? I think it'd really make it slick.

^a tablet is almost like a virtual piece of paper, you draw on the tablet surface and it shows up on screen , it's like fucking magic man

Thanks all, there is something about the leg thats buggin me aswell, i will finish it up once ive done the face and hands.. And yea i plan on doing the bg aswell, but not as bricks, in the reference picture hes in jail so i think illl make some metal bars for the background..

Nillson you need to help me learn Digital painting. I can only do illustration styled work. :(

And I must admit, having a tablet is not enough. I've got one but I can't make anything tha looks good. The difference between my drawings and this joker thing is like... the difference paintings from picasso and a little child... It's to hard for me. You must have some drawing talent, at least :)

How do you blend is it opacity or flow?

default softbrush, with pen pressure, opacity.. :) aint that hard really, just take you time untill you completely satisfied..

Soft brush? I've always been told to never use it as it doesn't give enough definition.

Alot of concept artist strongly recommend against using soft brush too. =\


I'll give it a try anyway.

depends, for concept art, you want really defining features, and you want to overdo the most important features, as such the soft bruhs aint that good..

But for stuff like this, reference painting, i like to use the softbrush as it blends light and shadow very well.. especially on clothing..
