Nothing wrong with using topaz, as long as it isn't really obvious. As for your sig, it's alright, but was her right arm supposed to be the focal? I dislike how burned the image looks, you should've just burned the sides and use the dodge tool on her face. :]

It makes no sence that there's a light source on top of her head yet there's no lighting around. =/

Yes, make it look like your lighting source actually casts light around your render(for this use the dodge tool).

Simple but good.
I think the text it´s not good and that light comes from nowhere :S

instead of using burn and dodge try using a white soft brush at 22% opacity make yr light source then go Filters > Render > Lighting effects and use that to make it more of a spot light then drop the Opacity as u see fit

i disagree entirely, but just my opinion. i think burn/dodge tools are a really good way to create lighting, just have to use them right.

Same here, it makes the lighting look more natural aswell, imo.

very true.

in all honesty, it depends on the tag, and the location in which the lighting is coming from.. little things make the difference. either is correct, lol
