which one do u think is better?





Invision Power Board

or

phpBB 2

?

and why

uh, well, i gotta say that vbulletin own these two :)

I like invision. It it easier to use. It easy to change settings and it easier for members to navigate.

well as a user i would say that phpbb2 is better, only because I have found it more reliable and consistant.

As an admin I cannot realy comment, as I have only played around with phpbb2.

hmm. I havent experienced phpbb a lot, but i hear its better, and it definetly has its plus's. The great thing about invision though is the "fast reply" feature. That is a lifesaver for me. I love that.

yes, true, the fast reply is a very nice feature that I havn't seen on phpBB2, though there may be a mod for it.

Invision has a lot more administrative functions than phpBB, and that's why I personally enjoy it more. People claim that phpBB is suppost to be more secure, but recently there was a huge bug which effected all the phpBB boards and caused thousands to be deleted - although there are similar problems in older versions of invision.

Its a hard choice, I enjoy invision a hella lot more.

and the good thing about phpBB is that there alott of mods for it,,

There are also a lot of mods for invision. Both have its advantages, I wouldnt say one is better. Its nice to have sub forums though (something you cannot have in phpBB).

phpBB has security leaks more often than ipb but then again ipb is heavier on the server and reguires more loading but i'd still say ipb 'cause it's more stable

well, phpBB is free, and that's always a good thing...

Invision for 2 reasons, fast reply, and when you admin its easier to edit the boards.

Invision Board has a lot more features, which are very important to have when running a board. phpBB has some good features, and modifications that I like, but in the long run, I believe that phpBB can't really compete with Invision Board.

It all depends on what type of site you want to have running. Invision is for the more industrial-type sites, while phpBB is for small sites that really don't get extremely popular.

hmm... phpbb2 has some pretty big users out there. of course the real big sites tend to have their own customised version of whatever.

I think people still dont see open source free as the same as commercial, when that isn't the case. I have seen a lot of buggy stuff happening with Invision on some sites, and i have seen the same with phpBB2. Personaly I would go for phpBB2 because I can then customise the hell out of it and get something realy impressive at the end.

But then I'm a developer so I can always write what isn't there, so I have an advantage over a lot of board admins.

PHB is better I think.
