G'day guys,
Well the reviews I have been reading are definatly correct, the movie is brillant. Excellent crafting of the story line into the previous and the next (IV - A New Hope). Acting is a tad wooden, but no where near as bad as the last ones.
My partner won me free preview tickets, its actualy not released in Australia for another 3 hours at midnight (today is wednesday for me).
Highly recommend seeing it on the big screen.

...DAMNIT! Now I'm going to have to go rent the second movie. I swore not to see the last two because of the hack job on #1 unless I heard they were great.
Now, besides the plot, is the movie good. Because any good Star Wars Fan Boy, like I was (back in the day, when I sucked) knows the entire plotline already.
Im off to see it on saturday (hopefully). It sounds great from the reviews and trailers.

Well I saw the first one way back in 78, I was 9. In 98 I took my son to see the re-released re-mastered version and he was 9, quite ironic realy.
As for the integeration of the story line, well it would have to be an A+. The second one (Episode II) has some god awful acting in it, but the story development is quite good and you understand a lot more when you watch Episode III. Its obvious that Georgey Boy must have had a deep think about te story before he made any of the three.
The way they explain the evolution of Darth Vader, how the twins are split up into different families and what happens to the all the Jedi is brillant. Also the evolution of the Storm Troopers and how they came into existance was brillant.
I re-watched Episode II last sunday (was on free to air) and am gald I did.
All in all a bloody brillantly crafted story line, obviously astounding special effects, and all in all not too bad acting. The young dudes are still a tad wooden, but no where near as bad as Episode I or II.
Oh, the attention to detail is brillant. How they show different space vehicles which lets you realise how the space craft evolved between each movies, how R2D2 seems to remember more in Episode IV than C3PO, etc... the story line's attention to detail is mind blowing.
As a major Sci Fi fan and big Star Wars fan, I think George Lucas should be forgiven for creating Ja Ja Binks and bad selection of actors in I and II.
im gona go see it.. uh... prolly next weekend, i gota revise this week fo exam on tuesday.. and a big test in hostory on thurs so next week it will be
when the dvd comes out, im gona but it along with all the others and watch 1-6 back2back

Rock on man, its nice to see another fan around here. I just got back from seeing it today (yesterday it was released at 12). It was amazing, the best of the three episodes. I'm really happy that that he finally recovered the episdoes with this.
The main thing I disliked about it is the horible dialog. It was very cheesy at some points. But going into the film knowing that - you will enjoy the film more.
Great film though.
maybe Georgy will relent and let Steven Speilburg do the next three. shame Harrison Ford will be too old by that stage :(... i mean, he made star wars... added a level of interaction between him and Leah which made it more realistic despite all that was going on around.
George let slip that there is going to be another Indy Jones. I forgot he was the producer... i presume Steven will remain the director... well one hopes so anyway.

Well...the originals were amazing, especially for the time in which they were created. Nobody had ever seen anything like star wars before. The scale was enormous, the story was larger than life (yet kept strong ties to convential cinema, i.e. Westerns), and it was just plain done right.Quote:

I think the reason it got to be such a huge thing, relies strongly on the depth of the story. More accurately, the depth of the stories. Lucas had written all 6 (at least in a basic form) episodes before he made the original three (4,5,6). So, for instance, you see the bounty hunter come for Han Solor in episode 4 and then find out more about it in 5 & 6. The link between Vader and Luke is shown, Luke and Lea, Han and Chewbacca, etc., etc...There was just so much going on and it all fit right into place as the films progressed. It gives a lot of different angles for the fanatics to latch onto. Then, as fans started getting out of hand, more books were written, alien creatures explained, the jedi explained more in-depth, an entire new world was formed for the fans to explore and learn about. I guess it just goes back to human nature, the need to find out what's just beyond our borders. And because the stories were written out before the first film was ever made, you didn't get the usual crap that comes with sequels. They didn't just add a character here, and subtract a character there. You followed the same core group through the entire war.
I'm not much of a fan anymore, but I used to be a huge super nerd fan. I was such a big fan that I swore off seeing the 2nd and 3rd episodes becuase of the way Lucas butchered the 1st. lol, think about it...that takes some serious devotion.
yeah... 1st was real bad, i thought that 2nd was alright but the classics are still the best

I have not seen it yet, but I plan on going to the movies this week to see it. I have heard that it was the best out of the three as well.
On Wednesday, a lot of kids said that their parents were actually waiting at the movie theaters in a huge line to get in. I don't think that I would ever do something like this just to see a movie.
I just saw it and ALL most all my questions were answered.
I have a few that have seen the movie already to ask.
But overall, great movie...4.5/5 stars.
The best in all the prequels.
So no more StarWars after this right?

i think that they will continue on, and do 4,5+6 again - prolly spaz them up but oh well

OMG I can't wait to see it..Sunday I hope... My older brother saw it at midnight when it came out and he said it is the best one....
saw it at midnight, after seeing all 6 here's my rankings from best to worst:
1. Episode VI Return of the Jedi
2. Episode V Empire Strikes Back
3. Episode III Revenge of the Sith
4. Episode IV A New Hope
5. Episode II Attack of the Clones
6. Episode I The Phantom Menace (although Darth Maul was sweet)
db, i wouldn't expect the classics to be remade seeing as they were all "digitally remastered" not too long ago and a few scenes were added. however, Lucas is not done with Star Wars as he is currently working on a TV miniseries. not sure for what network though.
