How are you using the pen tool?
Photoshop or illustrator?
It looks like you've just used fill tool because the edges are really choppy.
Good job on the shading tho.
Are you using the path layers for your vectors/pen tool? You can avoid the jaggedness that way.
Use fill on the pen tool paths instead. Or if you make black outlines you can paint underneath that layer with a regular brush.
It looks good except for the choppy lines across the edges of the person.
Either use the fill of the pen tool, or use a Polygon Lasso to do it but you would have to be very precise on it.
You should put some more shading on the shirt and hand. the hair aswell should be more detailed.
You're doing a good job. KIU
i started a new one. and i could use some advice on the hair.i'd like to make it look like this:

(!)This is not mine, i found it somewhere ( here i think ) and save it for inspiration.
If its from here, please tell me the one who made it. :P
His name is (-)Ion
thanks. radz u have some pen tool skillz aswell right? could u give some tips on the shading (like the nostrils or ear and eyes?) and the effect of the real hair.
The most advanced shading and hair I've done is this: www.gfxvoid.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63635
And that's not really what you're aiming for, so I'm afraid I can't give you any tips there. I haven't started with real vectors yet, so I know as little as you about real shading ^u^
still your shaing is correct.
get illustrator, until you do your vectors won't be nearly as good as they could be
idk why its so choppy! i used the paint tool and the gradient tool alot to fill my selections haha, its not bad for a first start!, to help with the shading, you have the right lighting, however you need to work on using your darks and lights! it needs more contrast so i can see the shading easier, i had to squint :p, keep it up! you have the right idea and its not bad for a start! :)
ohh i see well def fill your paths then haha :p and i mean use your darker and lighter colors for shading
