So yeah: "Lawmakers introduced legislation Monday that would let the Justice Department seek U.S. court orders against piracy websites anywhere in the world, and shut them down through the sites’ domain registration."
And as america is currently managing all .com .org and .net domains, this would mean that if americans feel like a site is unappropriate (wikileaks, the pirate bay) they'd be able to block it world wide. Okay you can acces them through the IP adress but I still think this is nothing but cencorship.

Sure it's a government ploy to take over the world. But piracy in any form is immoral, disrespectful, and quite simply larceny. What's wrong with a government wanting to invade on that? -

It's just a bill right now, who knows if it will even pass. The internet is just too big to fully control. The government should focus on more important things like unemployment, health care, etc., not trying to save a bunch of billionaires a few bucks in profit because someone is making copies of their work.
This law won't stop piracy. Torrent sites are free and are pretty much the last stop on the list when it comes to distribution of pirated materials. If you shut those down then it will only make the real bootleggers even more money, because with the supply cut off then everyone will have to go to them, and be more willing to pay.
I don't condone piracy in any way, I just think there are more important things that our government's time and resources should be going to. -
