Hmm pretty nice mate. Good focal and some pretty solid effects. The only thing I don't like is the extreme contrast between the render and his little ball and the BG.

I don't like how the BG just has two black sides though.

You should've used lighting effects and made it darken out.
BG is okay, but it's very incomplete.

Just a suggestion;
Maybe add some star brushes to it to get that feeling. It'll compliment the bubbles as well.

One really minor issue I see is the your colors. The overall feel here is red.
The render isn't that great, it comes out dull itself, your C4D's on the other hand are a highly saturated red.

Color coordination is good, but again, it could be better ^_^.

More work on your BG and just filling up your canvas.

No i don't think its too bright at all. Think is right just as it is. Depth of the background is good nd it's a clear focal. Only thing I don't really like is the Katana handle top left looks a bit messy but otherwise i think it's good. I don't like the blending bottom middle in V1 but in V2 its corrected so its not a problem ^^

v2 is 100% better

Really? No light source? and try this... Make a gradient map (Black to white) and set it to soft light> 75%- And mess with other adjustment layers
