I want you to help me with a title!! :)
holy shi!!!! thatst like omg...im stunnned....
rofl random name "Plantarium Armada" spell check rofl i have no idea no no... Sector 81
I reckon the title should be called "Rush Hour" or "Plentery Traffic Jam" or some such.
Personaly I think that too much is going on. Not fussed on the surface of the planets but the ring around the main planet is brillantly done. Only issue with it is that the lighting for the planet is different for the rings, normaly part of the ring would be invisible or at least very lowley lit because the planet blocks the light source.
no offense dude... but
(yes im really ahrsh)
i really dont like it, it doestn flow - IMO the planets dont look realistic, only the big one and the stars are a tiny bit weird..
title: Hysteria (title of a muse song im listening to)
its good but some of the planets look a tad fake
try makin the ring more transparent and such other
then that its a great try g/j man and thanks for the tut
and there are a few too many planets
Are you kidding deep blue? You really are far too critical. The planets are frickin amazing. The ring around the large planet is awesome, the stars are terrific and the rest is fabulous. It looks extremely realistic in my opinion. I would name it "Distant Paradise". Great work Rabieshund, you have found your thing here.
I made this pic very crowded by purpose, actually, the planet in the corner is to close to the big one, but this I didn't go for realism at all, just wanted to make something fun. :)
DB: So, you hate it? ;P
Thanks for the titles. :)
How are you to judge how a planet should look? This could be a whole different universe for all we know.
Nextday: No, rings around planets are too "solid" to be transparent, and have too small particels too be seen.
lol i mean on the feel of the planets its too...i dnnu its somthin
w00t lets all flame me caus ei dont like someones work
- i was just giving my opinion, and i think that the planets are too bright and have a werid surface
How can you judge a planet? Tell me. That's whatgot me to say that. There is no "realistic" planet. A planet could be a box for all we know in some areas.
I really like this one. I specially like the details on the planets, and the effort.
The two biggest planets looks really cool, I guess it's because they show the most "effort", as said :P I do like the colors, that makes the picture look both realistic And fantasy-like, which is cool. You've dojne a pretty damn good job on this one I must say, and thanks for giving me inspiration, again, if that's ok with you there is =P what's great about this picture is that the colors and the position of everything is good, the colors isn't too bright, they are more dull, and the only thing I don't like as much as the rest is the center part, with all the big stars, or comet things, and the planet in the middle doesn't look as well-done as the other ones. Still, I do think that the picture wouldn't look as good without them =D If you understand. Great piece, keep it up
hmmm I don't think the surface of the planets are that good IMHO. As to the comment about how should a planet look like? well we are conditioned on what we perceive a planet to look like both by popular sci fi and actual pics of the planets in our own solar system.
The surfaces look 'painted', while the rest of the pic is going for realism. If we wish to be critical then we could say that the two styles are not consistant. Also that in reality such a planetary system wouldn't exist so close to a glaxay or that the large planet would survive so close to a giant planet without being ripped apart. In addition to this, there are several very bright starts which implies close proximity, and yet we appear to be very close to another galaxy.
Sorry guys, but the realism just isn't there. Personaly I didn't plan to critic these issues, but someone else did and then everyone else ripped into him for doing so.
I will stand by what I originaly said, that the rings are about the best thing I like in the pic. from the camera pos, I would say that the bluring is very nicely done, execept the the shadow/lighting is incorrect.
a lot of what i want to say has been said so i'm just going to say a couple things. Most of the distant planets don't look real at all, and the main reason for this is that they have an outerglow/innerglow. Take most of hte outer/inner glows off, it only works with the close planet. Some of hte planets are nice but it is true they don't have much realism. Also part of the ring should be hidden because it doesn't have sun on it.
I'm loving it alot man..943.34.3.6.45.674.54.67.54.643.52/10 :)
Very very very nice!! I would never be able to ever do anything like this. I am definitely loving this one!
Wow, I have never ever seen something get as much critisicm as this one, even though I think this piece is better than something I've ever seen from some of you guys...
Illegal: I can't take of any inner glow since I don't use inner glow. If you read the step about shadows and light in my tutorial, you will understand what I mean. And the thing you said about the lighting on the ring is incorrect, I thought of that, of course, and the shadow should start just after the lower edge.
But now, seriously. Graphic designers, illustrator, all kinds of artists has one thing in common. They never CRUSH something with critisicm without giving ANY comments on the good things on the pic. It's a golden rule, and can actually be found on alot forums. I mean, I don't believe you when you say that NOTHING is good with this pic. I guess many of you couldn't do something like this. I know the pic isn't perfect, but the only thing I don't think looks perfect is the planet in the upper left. But as I said, I coudn't bother to do more on it. It took me 3 days to finish, and I think this is my best piece, and it IS alot better than anything I've seen from you Deep Blue, so if you don't mind, prepare to recieve the same level of critisicm (that means no commenting on good stuff) on your work from this point. Sorry for being rude, I'm just getting a bit pissed since I cannot believe that you totally dislike this. It's too detailed and I put too much work in it for me to believe that. If you want to challenge me and make a space scene that's better than this, go ahead. I would love to see it. Yes, I am pissed if some of you didn't notice.
man dont get mad he was just showin u what he thought could be improved..some people only say..o thats great..or you did a good job...but does that really help you? i know you cant really go back in change it man but people were just tryin to help that big planet on the bottom left is near perfect in perspection it just could be better..but as alot said who can really tell what real planets look like... after your post i woulda changed near everythin i said because you said u werent going for real, i just tried to help you if u were going for real...soz if we offended you...but most of us we justtrying to help...
Yes, you are trying to help, I appreciate that, but telling me that you totally dislike the pic isn't really helping. It just makes me feel bad at what I'm doing, which I don't think I am. I mean, no positive stuff at ALL? Come on, that's just ridiculous. Deep Blue really doesn't know how to critisize properly, he forgot that this pic isn't just some thing made in paint. No one of you have commented on that I put really much work into it, which I'm kinda proud of, either.
you know the people that said that kinda of stuff should get flamed this is a great peice and it should be treated as such..db was just one of the first to add a critizism type comment and it picked up off him...you shouldnt just go blaming him alone...it was others as well...
wait never mind...flame his ass this is all he said...i thought it was somthin more constructive as well as critizism....
god he did just critizise...man id be pissed tooQuote:

Illegal didn't critisize as hard as DB since he said he agreed with what others had said, and I took it as he agreed with MetalSkin, who I won't yell at since he gave proper critisicm (which include commenting on what he LIKED), not just telling me that something I've worked on for 3 days is shit. You would get pissed too, believe me. Now who's left.. you? I think you gave better critisicm too, even though some of your points in your earlier post was incorrect (like transparency of the rings). I appreciate that you actually said that this is a great piece. I don't often think that myself, but this time I do. Giving critisicm could help me to improve the pic, but you must do it in a proper way, and I don't think that DB managed to do that since he just said that everything on the pic is bad. I think that's bullshit.
Edit: Oh, you're on my side now. XD Nevermind then.
rofl yes im on your side what db said is bullshit and i am pissed nobody shoulda said that about this peice...its one of your best peices and if u keep at it it'll just get better, if u have time durin the summer try a version 2 maybe? to see where your at then compared to now...maybe db will learn some respect...he should actually C&c not just Critizise..db said it doesnt flow...as you stated you didnt want it to flow it was just a tryout to see what you could do with the tut...in the end you agreed the top left planet didnt work as well as the others but in the texture and other stuff area its great tho in proportion its a little off because its near to the larger planet...the big planet has some nice features but due to your shading effect you pulled off quite nicly im might add doesnt show all those features to their full extent. db should have actually commented...not just flame
Thank you for the comment. :)
And I reckon any of you guys have noticed the little thingy in the lower right corner. >;]
I've already commented this one... But not here xD
I love it! Some of you may not have noticed, but there are actually cities on the planet that looks really awesome!! The big planet is the best one, and the perspective looks kinda odd on the planet above it, but it's ok... You can't see all the sources of light, so I dunno if it's realistic or not :P
The Death Star is another funny thing to input. I think it's awesome ;P
BTW: I understand it's not perfect, but ur friggin 16 yrs old, man!! xD
I like how every planet has a moon. I'm just stunned. You are very talented.
DragonsRage: Thank you. :) This is just my second space scene, so it's not perfect, but I will keep getting better and better untill I'm as good as Alyn on DA. ;) I am for the moment learning how to make nebulas, and I will of course practice on everything, study real space, and so on.
You will definately see more space scenes, I have really found my thing in digital art.
Chill OUT guys. People can have their own opinions - and I dont want to see people bashing him for it.
Jesus christ chill out guys. And set an example Twan.
i do know how to criticise properly however i didnt state anything good - im sorry for that but really, ya dont have to go and get annoyedQuote:

IMO i think the front planet looks kinda good, but the others look unrealistic and out of place- especially the distant ones, before i was just stating my opinion, and if you cant accept that i dont think its that good then thats your problem. i do like some of it, just when i look at it.. it doesnt look to me interesting and eyecatching, i understadn how you put 3 days work in - those planets take ages, i know (just ive never shown mine cause they rele crummy) i just dont think it flows too good
oh and when you said that you doubt no one could do it... thats not tru
lets not go that far ey :PQuote:

the piec looks absolutely stunning! I've always been a fan of space panorama's, but this makes me wanna get better at it :PI'll be sure to check out your tut on planets...
All I can say abt it is that it looks really good, except for a minor glitch in shadow/lighting...
I'm not talking abt the rings, cuz honestly, if the light were coming from the centre of the oval galaxy, the rings and planets look well lighted.
Only problem is, that that wouldn't be their primary lightsource, as it would be too far away. A closer sun would provide the light. You'd have to add a sun in a diffenrent location or so... but that's really bickering over nothing, cuz prolly no-one will really notice...
It's a great job man!
