SS Comp. Do we continue it or not?

I am leaving this up to the members now. The poll will run for 7 days. Vote yes, or no. Feel free to state your reasons either way.

Do we have a reason to even suggest that we do not continue it? I always thought it was a good competition for those sig-makers to partake in and allowed those members to push their skill in sig making by competing with other members.

Or is Kri only able to run it?

I say keep it and continue on with it. The SS and Test Your Talent shizzle seem like great incentives for the members of the Void to take part in besides the generic SoTW and LAoTBW comps.

yes adleast do one last one, it keeps members active and also helps people improve and preform there best

I say we already have a good many sig comps, I think the collab lp/tag battle section should be reopened instead and ss close.

EDIT: I will be running SS if we do decide to keep it. We just thought you ppl might like to decide what to keep and what might be more interesting to do.

i donno i liked the ss rules more then the TYT no offence but it just feel the rules are all over the place and in the ss there more organized . and i also feel that the ones in it still should continue it to see who wins it with out default. only thing i don't agree on is the loser bracket lose the loser bracket and keep it as it was .

As we stand right now, we have Signature of the Week, King of the Hill, and Signature Showdown which are tag exclusive, then Test Your Talent, which is a mix, and designed to be tough, Large art competition and vectors.

I have noticed that a large number of things being produced on here are just for battles, not for yourselves. Sure, battles help you hone your skill, but if you can only make something for a battle then what?

I have also seen people who have run out of time, cannot put full time into a piece due to being too busy, which might be due to how many competitions we have.

I move that we reduce the number that are being run, as to better run the ones we keep, and to see better results.

Noway that we are gonna delete the SS, the SS keeps us active in sigmaking, helps us improve our talents, Its one of the biggest comps here on the void, the competition that evry1 wanna partacipate in becouse we all want to win and have that amazing crown. A lot of ppl are looking forwards to the SS (atleast i am) and evrytime i want to make it to 1 round further. And i think its fun :D

SS is my favourite competition personally, so i say keep it :3

Siren you might think tyt has more rules and is complicated but in fact it has less rules, the only reason why you might think there is so much is because this was our first trial and we wanted to make sure we didn't have a million questions to answer, that you could find them yourselves. Problem was, as usualy most people didin't bother to read them :P

SS is not a challenge ss is a generic sig comp, they lay out is great and the battles can be good, but a lot of ppl sign up than don't show up, or don't produce on time.

TYT actually pushes you to make something unique where in my opinion SS is smudge focal smudge boarder lol or replace that with c4d :P

We want to hone in your skills and keep the battles interesting but makes sure that ppl actually produce. Currently we have a lot of comps on this forum and as Nathan stated most of you sign up for but find yourselves too busy to finish or even get started.

Looks like you guys might get your choice and we keep SS, but I will be changing some things lol xD there will be some rules adjusted and I as well as oats( because he will be helping host) will be changing the themes to better challenge (not as challenging as tyt) so that we stop the tag factory and actually see ppl get creative and keep things interesting :)

Just becouse we have a lot of battle's here on the void, doesnt mean that you have to join evry battle. There is a battle for evry1. sotw focuses on all tag makers, the SS for the people who have a bit more skills and have been on the void for a while. And the TYT on the one's that want to discover their design talents. I just dont think we should stop these battle's, its not that they are getting unpopulated or something.
I like the theme mesh up for the SS, as long as the signatures realy stay signatures haha :)

They won't be staying as generic as they were, though they will stay "tags" as I'm sure of what your talking about.

We don't want to put all battles together, we just have a lot of battle already focused on tags.

SS is fine how it is, it's a great big tag comp, it's just what we need.

I think we should scrap SS start fresh after this one ends with a completely new comp. the SS just isn't the same without Kritez there.

i think mods are finding way to be lazy lol what better way then to scrap a tournament? not trying to be rude here but that's what looks like to me. suck it up mods u have more work to do . why scrap something people like ? make no sense thats why people came to this site as well to battle . if one cant get in a battle because it's full u have another battle u can sign up for . that's how i look at it . but w/e im just a noob here.

That is not it, no matter what it looks like to you. How many times have you yourself had to rush to throw something together, half assed, for a battle? We are trying to decide what is the right number of tournaments for the void to have, that way they don't get neglected, like the SS was.

I propose that we have only 2 tag specific tournaments, as well as the Test your Talent. Be it Signature Show down and King of the hill, or whatever combination of 2.

Peoples quality drops when they try to do too many things. Once again, I want to see quality over quantity.

It's not abotu the work, I'm 100% capable of running this thing.

TBH it's about it not being stimulating enough or enough of a challenge, and ppl signng up who don't finish what they started because they have problems with teams and school life and every other reason.

Not saying some of you don't have good reasons.

To speak about myself. I am currently in all comp battles besides sotw now and i am host/co-host of 4 comps/battles. I have a full life of 2 children a hosue to run and study 4 hours out of the day and I am still capable to be involved, meet deadlines, and host the suckers up.

So saying that we can't keep pace with what you had imo I feel an insult to my job as mod here and the things i do in my own life as wife/mother/friend/student and mod.

not saying you cant keep up with what i did... to be honest there are only a few mods that could do ss, you are probably one of them.

I'm pretty sure the other mods could handle it, after all when you have a look at the core aspect, it's just a Knockout Comp with a few twists and such.

You might be right that the SS had a bit of work to it, but there have been several comps in the past that has had just as much, if not more work done to it. I remember the old Teams battles being very complex when Takken and Radz were running them. They had a hard time running it, but they managed to do it.

To sum it all up, a comp can be run by any moderator or even a member just as long as they know what the rules are and what needs to be done.

I like how the polls are going up right after the entries are turned in now. Didn't like having to wait one week after the deadline for a simple set of polls to go up.

However in no way does having less competitions to run and to participate in will mean the members will improve on the quality of their work. No way at all. Its not about the number, its about the effort one is willing to put in for that piece and submit it to the comps, which is why I said in the beginning that comps like the SS can bring out the best in the members because they will be doing their best to win.

Now I understand wholeheartedly what you mean about if there are too many comps running at once, one may not be able to put in their all into the pieces and this isn't just applicable to art here on the Void, but life in general so such a sentiment is understandable but at the same time, you can't base it just off of that.

Even though there is this poll and stuff, chances are if the SS becomes to troublesome to run and clashes too much with the other innovative comp such as Test Your Talent, then it will be ditched in favor of the latter. I don't think the community will take that lying low inspite of the other comps here.

What I think could happen if such a thing may occur is that these comps are ran at different times so that they don't clash with each other and other members won't have to rush for both comps within the same general time frame.

Like for example (just a rough sketch), one can run the Test Your Talent at one point in time, and then run the SS at another point in time, but neither at the same time. Even IF Test Your Talent is slated for the improvement of the members, none of you can deny that SS has become a huge part of competitive heart for the members of the Void and to take it away because of another comp just like that will be unfair at most. If both comps take turns at being active instead of being held at the same time, then I see no reason as to why it can't work.:) (Its an idea)

Besides its obvious that so far a majority still want to continue the SS anyway.

I had also worked out long before this poll went up how I would be running SS an tyt they would be running of diff time sheduals, every other month in between each other so as not to distract.

What we were trying to see here is if ppl didn't want to give up something to get something new or different. Or all together scrap.

For me it wasn't really about too many comps, it was about this comp being to generic and run of the mill tag factory. I don't find that the challenges are very challenging and I didn't think ppl were actually taking it seriously. Over10 ppl stoped producing tags for this comp only by round 3, that tells me that ppl arn't half as interested in it as they thought. It also showed me that these ppl didn't actually take it seriously enough to show up for their matches. In many cases ppl stated in the voting thread that they didn't really try for their tag. I also was in a round with soemone who just changed a bg and focal an showed up with the tags for our match, IMO thats a premade. Rules seemed to have also gone slack for SS and wern't being properly followed.

I wanted to see how far Void was about getting or keeping this. For now SS will continue to run after this, but the next time I run this puppy, if we do have too many ppl signing up than ditching, than I might have reservations on continuing it. Why would I waste my volunteered time on something for ppl not to show up ?

All I'm asking from Void members is, if you sign up be prepared to actually do it. It is not fair to me or their matches if they do not. I give up my time to give something to you, please don't make it for nothing. Get me ?:D

Well we will be going with the majority, regardless of the final outcome, obviously.

I like all the battles, because it makes me look extra sharp at the art that I'm voting for!
I don't have enough time to participate in all the competitions, but I try to make a sig off the week every week. I like the setup of the SS tho, cause it's tournament like!! So "yes" for me...
