Illustrator to photoshop for color adjustement

This was inspired by some personal events and a poem someone wrote about our relationship.

It has come to my attention that this peice needs some further explanation, or else it looks like an emo t-shirt.

This is about relationships in the real world. Everything doesn't just fall into place, issues don't work themselves out in chapter 5, sometimes it rains during your picnic and you don't share that magical kiss under a nearby tree. You don't always like eachothers friends, you're not always happy, and you don't always like the person you love. There's no such thing as a fairytale love story, there's no perfect romance.

Which is why the heart is a human heart instead of a cartoony pristine one. The writting in the back is not supposed to be readible, it was a poem someone wrote about us and it's a private secret for her to share with whom she chooses.

yes, all of it was done in illustrator. I just used photoshop to adjust the coloring, and change the size of the image.

this is about a girl, we have a really...odd relationship with eachother. She writes, and she is really good at it. A couple days ago she wrote this thing about our relationship and how it's always messed up and tragic but we keep coming back to it. So, it inspired me. The text that you can't read is her poem to me, you're not supposed to be able to read it :) .

Relationships aren't easy, they don't work out like the movies. They're strange and awkward sometimes. There's no perfect romance.

The heart is a human heart instead of the classic cartoony heart to illustrate the humanity and imperfection in love.

just illustrates the point i've been trying to make about people not putting a story behind there art. All these random backgrounds that are just thrown together. They mean absolutely nothing to anyone... that's not art, that's eye candy.

Oh, and I'd say that a hefty proportion of art these days are 'eye-candy'.

That is, until we deprive the meaning out of it by the artist himself (you). My mind sprang some generic ideas behind the piece when I first glanced upon it: Chaos, Love, Tragedy, and an Ad for donating blood, for all I knew.

But alas...

You built the bridge that led me from 'eye-candy' to art.
And in a DAMN GOOD way, I must admit.

The process went like this. Photo > Painted in photoshop > traced painting in illustrator > went back to photoshop to adjust the coloring > done.

THANK YOU GOD!!! man so many people here have random crap that's just eyecandy. Seriously, there's like no ART here. >.< jeez, thanks for nailing that point dude. This totally shows how ignorant our society is. Somebody finally posts a nice piece of art and we say "too deep" wtf? We have become a bunch of robots making brush tutorial whored sigs. >.<
