I used them sometimes, but I find that it is a crutch for me to use, as if I can't come up with my own inspiration.
I try to stay away from c4d because I find they are used all the time and would just make my tags look "like that dudes"
i whore the sht out of them
I never use c4ds, haven't in a year. Haha. I just can't find a right way to use it..
im a slut for that bitch
I very rarely use them, I can't place them correctly and I just see them so much that it feels like I'm just coping someone elses style
I whore em up!
Never, you whores.
I use a lot in some sigs, and maybe 1 or 2 in some. It's not necessary for me to use them, :D.
whore it UPP!!!
Sometimes.
sometimes...only cause I am usually very bad at the placement and finding a c4d that suits what I am working on
Schmick.
I tend to use them quite a lot but I want to stop using them and try and use other stuff.
often i guess.
It really does depend.
Depends on the look I'm going for.
I guess often but not so much anymore
C4D's are like playing Pokemon Silver with 99 Master Balls.
The more you know~
I wanted to say: Whore those bastards up, but I chose the: Often option.
Just being casual, llol
I love working with c4dīs it can make looks a tag so leet
often...
i use the smudgetool a lot to, or i try to create something myself with stocks and stuff :P
Sometimes when I'm lazy. Very rare now days since I've taken a good step in the direction to use as few resources as possible and creating my own effects and objects. And I don't find c4d art that appealing any longer, but with exceptions.
Trying my best to avoid them all together but epic lack of inspiration leaves me with no options>,<
See I find now that I'm putting more work into my pieces that it's worth it to go the extra mile and try to make your own effects or bring different kind of drama to the tag or lp if you do it all yourself, you just gatta be willing to actually try new stuff or to not get lazy xD
Good example for me now is I really want to get into DP but OMFG I think of how long it would take to make something than it makes me second guess my own talents, so what do I do instead ? I try and hunt for the "perfect" render, and find myself lacking :(
Next step for me is DP or so I hope and I would like to eliminate all c4d from my computer ( cept some few fractals/spacestock) to force myself to get as original as possible and make my own images.
I find c4d is a good stepping stone into graphics and art, but if you really want to make soemthing great, you gatta go the extra mile and do it all your own and hold pride in the fact that 100% of it is ligit and all under your own name.
C4D's are for people who don't know real art! And yes, that is a troll...
How did you ever became a mod? lol :P....
And I agree with slave, I should leave the c4d's behind and get more into making your own image's. but its not easy, you can create your own effects with like pentool or adjustment layers, filters or smudging, or clone/liquify tool. but i find PS very limited if it comes to that. maybe i just dont know all the techniques yet, but its like whenever you make a new tag u always end up using recouses.
Maybe we should make a thread with others sharing their techniques how to make your own effects and how to use them right. Would help me out a lot..
:)
i love em ;)
i agree... its easy way , but some people really can make something reaaaaaaaaly nice from them [ like ketg ]
i find myself always using them.. like 4 to 15 different c4d in one tag ;/ = yes i suck at art as fur sayd.
Sometimes. I like using a lot of styles so
Yeahh I think I use them pretty much :P.
Mostly effect C4D's but I like to use solid ones too (doesn't always work well tho xD) :D
But I like to leave them while smudging :)
That actually wouldn't be such a bad idea, maybe in the tut section just a little create your own effects tricks or something.
I would like to ( I keep putting it off) get a couple tuts out for ppl about rendering, I myself have learned of a couple ways to render now and would like to share them with Void, once I actually finish doing that and hosting in the ROTF section, Maybe I will try my hand at some video tuts for own effects and all kinda of diff styles.
I myself only really have 3 or 4 ways that I make my own effects, but I would love to hear how others do their effects so I can learn more.
^^
Indeed like one thread with evryone posting their mini tut's how to create that effect and how to use it. Would be awsome :)
And some rendering tut's are welcome to I can render but the quality is shitty :P
Most of my time spent making a tag is my C4D organization.
I spend a long time cutting out pieces and re-coloring the C4D's for good compo.
same here ;D i recolor every c4d, place it.. cut it , then dublicate it and try to put it some where else, before i apply image in the end, i look how sig looks with every c4d , and without em.. thinking who is gonna be blurry [ making depth ] and everything xD its not so easy
I danno, I spend a lot of timedoing the same as linda an joey do with their c4d, but I spend even more time hunting down the perfect c4d to use, sometimes I could spend 3 hours looking for just 1 :O ( I usually use c4d with rl images because I'm newb with rl tags >.<)
So lets say it took me 3 hours to hunt down the right c4d, or lets even say I wanted to use 2 diff crd, than I could possible spend 6 hours looking for these c4d, than I spend another hour to 3 hours trying to place them all right and coloured and depth and erasing and melding together, your looking at a 9 hour image for just one tag, lol and it gets worse with a lp.
So what I'm asking is, wouldn't it just be easier to put that 9 hours to better use and make something from your own imagination ? lol some ppl just like c4d, but I find everyone uses tehm and a lot of ppl use them too often are as a crutch. f you look at the poll so far, only 4 ppl never use them, and those 4 ppl usually make far more interesting/unique tags than myself or even the rest of us ( or thats my opinion anyways.)
i feel as i don't really know how to put my own style together :/
so i end up with c4d.. small art random artist. if u even can call it random ;D
I've changed my views on C4Ds, but I still don't like them.
People shouldn't be ashamed of using them. If someone can use a C4D correctly it can make a common signature look sickly. Some people (mostly beginners, which really aren't at fault and should really start off by using C4Ds) spam C4Ds and 1/5 times make a decent looking signature with little to no effort and then the people who literally put 1/2 hours into a signature just get overlooked because there are no fancy effects in it.
Overall though, C4Ds are good but in my opinion and its just an opinion, they are cheap.
Like I said, C4D's are like playing Pokemon Silver with 99 Master Balls. They can make a hard task easy, take the fun out of trying and you still get what you want but at the end of the day you didn't really earn your Pokemon >;o
Just an opinion though, can't stress this enough, I don't want to offend anyone.
ps I want to add that I have seen some people manipulate C4Ds in such a way, pretty nice stuff.
Here are 3 examples I have of no c4d.
I did use a render that I cut and a game/bg that I maniped as well as some plant life I found on DA.

This second one here took me a little over 6 hours and is my all time fav, I worked everything and cut everything myself as well as I made my own "effects" without using c4d or fractals.
Although this is not all my own work, I did not make this girl or paint the bg, I got more satisfaction from making this image than I ever have anything else to date ( besides my lps) This was supposed to be a battle image many times, but because I felt it did not carry the "flash" of the usual c4d stuff all over it it wouldn't get votes.

And my last one I will show is the gift I gave to bog right before he was banned. This took just over 4 hours and was a reconstruct of an ballroom, with just this jester render I found. All the lights and effects all me (besides a brush I found on DA for the string in the b/g)

Than something like this.

In almost equal amount of time to 3-6 hours I did these, I think they are both nice looking pieces, but I didn't make shit xD I copy, pasted and played around till I got this, and in no way can I take credit for anything besides glue and place and colour.
To me the quality of my pieces without all the borrowed effects is far outstanding something I made that I did not really create myself. I felt more like I was making art than making a tag, and I felt that the pieces without all the extra padding on here or any other forum, don't get the full credit that actually went into all the detail because ppl will just assume that it's a cut and paste job, but I also feel that the ppl who notice it is not just a cut/paste/colour job don't see the full detail of it because they are used to c4d flash.
In no way btw am I putting down c4d, I am only explaining my feelings and the understanding that I have about borrowed effects. I hope that what I have tried to explain here is that if you only tried more things with your talents you might find something in yourself when it comes to your art that you might feel more about it. That you might actually find some new talent that could push you out of the generic tagging populas and into a much larger field. I myself find that just putting in a render and a b/g and even my own special effects is not enough, I now want to take it to a different level and make the focals myself and paint the b/g. A lot of you have said that you use c4d when you get lazy :P How about next time your in the mood to get really creative, avoid going into the c4d folder and mess around with your basic tools !!! :D
Painting a bg 0.0, sounds like a big amount of work and I am to lazy for that ^^ haha joke :P
Thats why i brought my tablet to eventualy paint my own bg but than it wil take to much time to put in 1 tag. A ps speedpaint takes like 12 hours + another 2 hours for the tag its like a day job :P
I think stocks are a fair way to start a signature. People made them for you so you dont have to do those 12 hours of painting, and start directly with the focal. There are easy ways to make your own bg to. Grab a photocamera go outside and take some nature shots. and there u go add some blur and maybe some painty line's in it and it looks like u made your own paint BG. ( You made it to becouse its your photo!) Or make your own space stock. DA is full of tut for that. go outside take a picture of the clouds mess around with it in ps add some fo your own stars and feeling in it, and there u go you have your own space stock in like 1 hour. Just some idea's :P
And syn i have to disagree with you :P
They might be cheap becouse you didnt made them, but the posibilities you have with c4d's are endless i havent seen 2 tags that are like completly the same with c4d's in it. And to place the c4d take's a lot of time and skill to (maybe not that much skill :P) But to get it look right like slave's tag above here with the face. that is just awsome it looks like the is half human half c4d and i love that tag ^^
just my opinion on your opinion :P
I dont think we should make evything ourselves. after all these are only signatures we make for fun. Its not like we are making art that would be viewed by 10000 of people and offending us of using c4ds..
I am happy they exist, helped me out a lot few months back. :)
as long as the artist knows how to use it properly then c4ds are good.
