how do i zip up folders and make them .zip files? i know nothing about stuff like this, only photoshop and flash.
if u have xp, then right click on the file/files u want to zip, send to, and there u'll find it
ok, thanks. oh and 1 more question. how do i change the file extension?
what do u mean?
the .zip thingy. i need to change it to .lwtp.
u change the name from xxx.zip to xxx.lwtp
its that simple? i really AM dumb arent I?
edit: it doesnt show .zip when i go to change the name, is that a problem?
u wanted to change it to lwtp, its not a zip anymore u need a program that can handle lwtp files... wtf is lwtp anyway?
lwtp is a file type used by limewire's different themes. in order for a limewire skin to work, you need a lwtp file. the tutorial on limewire.com says nothing about a special program to handle lwtp files, so i must be missing something
were u zipping a lwtp file?
LOL dam dude,
no im tryin to turn a zip file into a lwtp file. heres the tut on limewire.com i was talkin about.
http://www.limewire.com/english/content/makeskins.shtml
i got all of it but the 3rd to last step, about lwtp files.
ah ok i c
sooo....can anyone help me?
The tutorial seems simple enough, all you need to do is rename the file as .lwtp
Just right click, as said before, click on rename, and change it. Aparenltly LimeWire uses the exact same format as a zip file... the .lwtp is probably to distinguish the Limewire skins apart from other zip files (which could contain anything).
After step 10, just follow the tutorial's directions.
hmmm....ill try it again but last time i tried that, it just added .lwtp to the end, but it stayed a .zip.
thats because u need to remove the zip from the name. didn't u follow my instructions?
it doesnt show the .zip part in the name so i cant get rid of it.
If you right-click then go to properties you should get the fullname + extention then you could rename it there. If not, you'll have to configure the folder the file is in to show file extentions. Go to Tools>Folder Options and go to the View tab, i think it will be there.
hmmm..... i got some of the folders to show the extension, but not the one i need it for. any more ideas?
well go to the folder options in the folder u need to show the extensions
tried it
open file in notepad, save as blah.yourwantedfileextension and then tell the person you send to to open in notepad and change to .zip (or wateva your doin with it)
YES!! DB, your a geinuis!!! you figured out my problem and now my custom limewire skin WORKS!!
