What do you thin khappens when you die, and why do you think it happens?
I beleive in re-birth, i beleive that you can't just be gone.. your past thoughts may be , but your essence, or your 'soul' can't just disappear.
The kind of backwards evolution theory makes sense, but i beleive it would not happen because of our own doing, or maybe it would, an ice age possibly. When humans think they are their peak... and they invent something far wprse then can be imagined.
I was goign to make this a poll, but there's too many different possibilites, so it's quite open.

I dont think that we just die, but more like a transformation of our existence. An ending that leads to another beginning, not rebirth. I think we alternate through the universes through our dreams, and eventually will become the other half of ourselves. That our other life is fortold through our dreams, a sortof planning and when our life fades, we'll become somthing different in another time or present. I know it sounds weird, but I think that time has no presence over death, so we may become somthing else, either in the past or future.

This is a pretty deep question, and I think about it all the time. I hope that there's a heaven, or something better than earth - but because my faith in religion has been dropping recently - I doubt that happens.
The scientific 'idea' would be that when you die, your mind ceases moving and your basically never wake up from a sleep. I feel that people get re-encarnated (or something along those lines). I always thought that was a cool idea =).

Hmm yeh , i don't beleive that you just die... and see black for eternity. You may go over thoughts in your head, you may seem to be re - living your current life... but you can't just die... Or i hope you can't anyways

You know, I WISH I beleived that after you die, you are reincarnated, or you go onto something else. Trust me, I wish I did. But it's dissapointing that I was taught to beleive you just die, and that's that. I was raised to have a scientific view on it, so the physical effects and practicality of dieing will always be fact to me, despite what I want to beleive. Because of that, it's scary when I think about it. You die, and that's it.. I guess I need something really big to push that out of my mind. You could say I'm searching for faith. Changing an idea is simple, but altering a beleif is something far more difficult, despite me wanting it to be changed. This topic goes hand in hand with the God topic. People who know me will tell you I'm religious, because when something good happens I'll say Thank you God, or something similar. It's really just wishful thinking, I wish I could beleive in it all..

I wish i was religious.... but i don't beleive in heaven... i really wish i did though.
The thingthat scares me about death is never seeing anyone you have known.. loved and liked gone.. forever. It's just scary thinking about that.
Depending on what your belief system is, and if you think you followed it, then you'll be appropriately rewarded or punished.
Likewise, if you believe in reincarnation, you can.
If you don't believe in anything, that's it.
Think of it as the ultimate application of Quantum Theory / Schrodinger's Cat / Multiple Worlds Theory..

So in other words: After you die, your mind creates a reality of it's own? Letting you beleive anything you want... and making anything you think come true?
Am i correct?

Well here is a propective on my religion "Islam" on what its gonna happen and what i believe as well:
QUESTION:
Please explain what happens to a person's soul after he dies. What does
it go through, what kinds of questions are asked, etc.
ANSWER:
The question is a very good one, however, it requires a great deal
of information in order to answer it properly and this is not the forum to
answer such a loaded question. Actually, one must do a good deal of
research to get the answer to this type of question because it involves
understanding of the Holy Qur`an, Ahadith and many books written on the
subject. One good place to start is a small book written by Moulana Sayyid
Akhtar Rizvi named: "The Day Of Judgment." It has been published by the
Bilal Muslim Mission in Kenya and still should be available. It gives a
brief but comprehensive study on this topic.
Since you asked the question, however, I can translate one
tradition for you concerning the questioning in the grave. The Messenger
of God (Mohammad), peace be upon him and his family, said:
"It will be as though definitely you have reached your term and the
Angel will seize your soul and you will go to your home (i.e. your
grave)alone. Then, your soul will be returned to you (in the grave)and
two angels, Munkar and Nakeer, will enter upon you in order to question
you and make your test severe. Know that, surely, they will question you
regarding the Lord whom you worshipped; about your prophet whom was sent
to you; about your religion which you submitted to; about your book
which you recite and about your Imam whom you followed.
Then, you will be asked about your age and that which caused you to die.
(You will be questioned) about your property: from where did you earn it
and on what did you squander it. Take your warning, examine yourself and
prepare the answer before the test, the question and the trial!"
Quran; [Biharul-Anwaar, vol. 78, pg. 143]

Oblivion
I dont think you actually die, i believe about a minute after you die, you are born again in a different time period. All your old memories are gone forever. Thats the way i think of it, i dont think there is a heaven or hell, or even a god for that matter.

I think that sometimes too! Like you sit in a waiting room - then no memories of your past / future

But in between that minute, you remember everything you once loved or cared for. After that its all gone, sort of sad but thats the way i think of it.

Here is another thing I heard about Re-Birth.
When you are "SMART", that is your memories of your past life under certain things.
Like if you really good at math in your past life you'll be great at it in your next life.
So whatever you do well, good or great in this life now, you'll be good or great at it in your next life.
Also, when you meet certain people or see certain things.
You get a deja-vue feeling, that is a memory from your past life.
But that is what happens if you believe in Re-Birth.
Thats the explains why people are "smart" and the "deja-vue fellings" sometimes.

Evil, it seems as if your in the exact opposite delima as I'm in. I was born Christian (we believe in an afterlife - both heaven and hell). Although - things in life have made me question my faith. None of my prayers have been answered. Nothing in my life has suggested to me that God exists. I still believe in god, and pray daily - but I don't know how much longer I will continue to do so.
I really hope there is a happy afterlife - but I'm just unsure.

Maybe , you should carry on being relligious, but try a different religion, maybe buddism? Trying a different path can't do any harm , only good or nothing....

well i think of it pretty much like the matrix, this is all fake, i think we're here to try and learn a lesson and change things in the world, and if we fail and die we wake up on a chair with a cable in the back of our heads

Most things point to there being nothing, in my mind, but you don't have to worry about dying if you beleive in an afterlife/another life. It's hard to explain, but I am basically trying to say that it does not matter what actually happens after you die. If you beleive in something after death, then before you die, that's what you will be thinking about, probably a feeling of anticipation or fufilment in life. But if you beleive in nothing after death, you are going to be miserable and worried before you die.
Ehh, that doesn't make sense, oh well :D Basically I want to beleive in something because the thought of nothing is just too much.
-Which makes me think, why do most people fear death if they beleive in something after death? What I fear is nothing, which is infinitely more frightening than death. Death is simply continuing a circle that has been going around forever, it's a new beginning. But the thought that nothing is after death, shit man.. Taoists are weird :D

You cant just 'die'. Your physical body can stop working and ur heart stop beating but there is a place where soul/mind go. You either go to heaven or hell based on your faith in Jesus. It says in the Bible that Christians when they die will die and recieve a new body for eternity in heaven, however non christians will spend eternity in hell. Thats what the Bible says and I believe when I die I will be judged by God and enter into heaven. Although many religions believe other wise.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes him SHALL NOT DIE but have ETERNAL LIFE through Jesus Christ the Son." John 3:16.

There is nothing, and I agree with a lot of what some of the people here are saying. Except there is nothing after you die, your brain stops working so your thought process stops and your body starts to decomposs. I think someday though, they will be able to do something like the Matrix, except create you your own Heaven. After you die they will just keep your brain alive, and have it hooked up to a computer where you are put into a Matrix like thing. The only problem is sometime you'll run out of space.
If you are religious stay with it. When I was questioning Christianity my aunt told me that she would rather believe in something and find out its not true, then to not believe in it and find out it is. Me I can't do it and I've turned away from religion, nobody knows it yet though except for one of my cousins and it will hurt my family big time if they find out. I still attend Youth Group just to hang out with my friends, and some hot chicks have started going.
