I agree. I miss all the old school stuff like Tull, Floyd, Queen, Van Halen, Rush, etc.. I don't like any new music. But watch out, you might have these guiys on your door step:

yeah, but i dont really consider van halen classic rock, they missed the beat by about 4 years, their songs dont have the same feeling that led zeppelin or floyd have, where you actually feel like you've entered another place... somehow.
i used to think like that, how all music today blows, but ive come to enjoy bands like pearl jam, radiohead, and the like.
Classic rock is the only rock that I actually enjoy. Its simply amazing, and I do wish it could get reborn, although you can't really remake something as unique and special as that.
I don't listen to it often, but I respect it over all other types of music besides reggae and rap.
im listenin to floyd now, kind of a coincedence i guess
i stopped listening to floyd when most of my school ran around saying how amazing dark side of oz was, how brilliant the wall was, and that wish you were here was the best song ever. the fact that most of the people have never heard of the album meddle or even know the name of the drummer shows more disrespect towards the band then wearing a T-shirt with the band's name shows respect for the band.
i guess people just scared me away from it.
there are a few bands today who have very classic rock sounding songs, but not as many as there damn well should be.
classic rock is my love of music although i love all music
trends like Floyd and led are getting out of hand, ppl say o I Like Led Zeppelin but then they cant name a single album.
society drives me crazy
anyway i like alot of classic rock only parents listened to
CCR
Neil Young
Supertramp
bands like that
not HUGELY popular and trend whored now and days
i still love led zeppelin, the fact that i have all their albums (the ORIGINALS, not CDs), and liked them before most kids i know even listened to music.
neil young is cool, and so is supertramp, but for some reason ive never really gotten into either the way i have other similar bands or artists.
lynard skynard also rocks
i could spend about an hour listing evry band/ group i listen to
infact i might just do that
classic rock is good. but see if it was reborn then it wouldnt be classic. since classic would be in the past. i dont agree wit some of you's i like the new stuff. but i also like the classics dont get me wrong. L.Z., AC-DC, and all them are great but i need to listen to some new music myself.
Hell yea Pink Floyd!! xD
The Guess Who were good too.
i spend all night and every night listening to every artist i like.Quote:

Hey i like all of those but no one mentioned The Doors, The Who and The Eagles. Whats wrong with you guys.
the jam.. the moody blues, the cure, the ramones not muchly rock but they sure have some nice songs i'm also into zztop, 10cc, led, floyd, rolling stones, queen, ac/dc, the carrs, the byrds, jimmy buffett, dire straits, bob dylan the list in endless :) good topic :D
the doors make me think of vampires. i dont know why.
the eagles, i never liked them much, and the who... just not my cup of tea.
the ramones are punk end of diccusion
CLassic rock cannot be 'remade' hence the name classic. These posers like Jet and the Darkness try to be all 'vintage', but they will never surpass the real classics.
lol The Darkness is funny. The cheesiness makes them good.
Just getting to reading some threads here, and saw this one.
It's funny to me and here's why.
What is commonly called classic rock was the rock music I was listening to when I was in high school and college. It was current and popular at the time. It wasn't top 40 but it was current.
So to you it's classic rock to me it's nostalgia! :D
In that light...
Foreigner
Zeppelin
ZZ Top
Pink Floyd (Saw them in concert during their wall tour)
The Who. (Saw them in Cincinnati when all the people were killed)
Queen
Kansas
those were my favorites, but I listened to many others and other types of music. Jazz, Blues, Classical (HATED Disco!!!!!!)
Classic rock, eh? Is classic rock a genre or just something we say about old rock? Pink Floyd is more known as phsycedelic rock than regular rock, so I guess it's just something you say about old rock.
I like old stuff too of course, especially Pink Floyd, even though some of their stuff aren't that great. But IMO The Wall is the biggest masterpiece in the history of music, so there not all bad. ;]
The Eagles are pretty good, but the only REAL good song they've made is Hotel California, which makes it to my top 10 list of best songs in the world. I'm sorry to say that I don't like Led Zeppelin. I think they are the most overrated band in the world, but I don't want to have an argument about this, so just ignore what I just said! :P
Yup. But something that was very big at that time too, but maybe not as big for you is the progressive rock, which totally pwns everything and everybody. Listen to YES. They started it all. Everyone wants to sound like YES did. YES also made the first song that was like 20 minutes long (on their Close To The Edge album). What is progressive rock? You could say that it's music for musicians. Sometimes incredibly hard to play and even sometimes incredibly hard to listen to. Advanced music for advanced listeners.
Shamino: "I don't like any new music."
w00t! How is that possible?! You don't like any of the music that is being produced today? Wow. I mean, you need to stop looking at MTV man. There is ALOT awesome music written today. I mean alot. I guess you have only looked in the wrong places. Read what I wrote about YES. Listen to it. Try the Fragile album, listen to the first song Roundabout, or listen to any of the songs on the Going For The One album. Did you like it? Try to listen to The Flower Kings or Spock's Beard. :)
As to the Eagles I liked "Life in the Fast Lane" better than Hotel California as a song, but that entire Album was great.
Zepplein was overrated in a lot of ways, but that mostly came after "Stairway to Heaven" got so very popular. Their music before that was just decent rock, listen to "Black Dog" see what you think.
Floyd was considered Phsycedelic rock at the time, as was most of the other groups mentioned. The Who very firmly fit into that category. Gotta agree with the Wall being the masterpiece but "Dark Side of the Moon" was equally strong.
Classic Rock has come to be a Genre now all it's own and in the 80's and the Disco era it was refered to Album rock.
Progressive rock started with Yes, Journey and such, Starship even morphed into it somewhat, later evolving into Devo, and some others along those lines. Personally I didn't care too much for it (although I did like Devo). I prefered the heavier guitar rock sounds and later move into "southern rock" Molly Hatchet, 38 Special..
Now it's hard to find any radio stations that play decent music unless you find a "Classic Rock" station.
I said whip it! With it good! :DQuote:
