So probably a really dumb question, but I see a lot of people working with After Effects. Does it really polish up or finish off a piece?
I've never messed with it personally and didn't know if I should start meddling with it really, since I'm just now learning PS CS6.

After Effects is a video program, not a lot of people use it for static images but it can occasionally be used to make some nice effects. Not much need for it though.

As Distello says, it's most useful for motion pictures, as in movies and animations such as gifs and flash.
I would suggest to try it out, maybe you would find it very comfortable and useful. You never know ;)

Awesome, Thanks guys. I had someone gift me the adobe master collection of cs6 and all of the programs are just overwhelming. I'll just take them one step at a time.
