Hey bro - try ctrl + shift + alt + E for apply image. Select a layer, and it'll create a new layer with an applied image.

Cool tut helped me with the basics of smudge :)

i know lol i have shortcuts applied. I just indicated where to go for the option for the beginners. Do you think a beginner would like to press 4 keyboard buttons for it lol :P
