Dude i lived in california for 5 years and skated every single day, constantly learning new tricks, when your skate for 6+ hours you consider it a sport. I'm pretty thin but since i skate i am one of the fittest ppl in my grade at skool. And i think it's pretty messed up that just because someone skates and hangs around a skatepark, you stereotype them as druggies and punks.

    Skateboarding is a sport.
Sport - ' Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively.'

There are skate competitions and they have rules, and they compete to be the best.

Also, a sport is a direct competition between two sides, whether they be teams or players. Judging who can do the best tricks isn't much of a direct competition.

when you do javelin for fun it isn't against anyone so does that mean it isn't a sport?

when you do skateboarding for fun by yourself it isn't considered a sport?

yet javelin is considered a sport because it is mainly done in competition against others in the olympics...

yet skateboarding is not considered a sport although people compete in tournaments and skateboarding has become so large that there are so many competitions and so in your analysis of a sport therefore skateboarding must infact be a sport..

EDIT// i never read any posts after redblaze.. this just popped into my head it sounds like i'm just repeating what shurai and what other people have said in different context
