You can use a 3D program such as Bryce or Cinema 4D.
There's some tutorials on this site.
Oh, and welcome to the forums.

Well, the term render is used for the focus of an image, could be one of those cool 3d things, or just a cropped/blended image of a character, or vehicle, etc.. Welcome to GFX void, hope you find what you're looking for

Use Bryce! There's a tut on making a cool render for it in the Bryce 5 section! Also, if you want, there's one you can use that I made in Other Tutorials.

Welcome, yea it depends on what type of render.. just a character or an abstract ball or item.

While we are talking about renders I need to ask if its possible to the the same renders with 3d studio max? Ive got 3d sm 6. something. But anyhow Iam a newbie with 3d programs, still I went to a computer school but those computers fucked up my grades  , but that is an another story.
But it is possible right?
-
Yeh of course... i've never seen any 3dsmax renders nor do i know anything about them.
