This is a really simple way to create a great looking wood grain texture, that has many applications!

    Step 1

Create a new image, and fill it in with a brown shade. You can experiment with different colors, if you wish.

    Step 2

On your layer current layer, go to the add noise filter (on the top menus)

    Step 3

Use the above effects, it should look similar to what I have above.

    Step 4

On your current layer (with all the new, little dots), go to the motion blur filter (location shown above)

    Step 5

Use the above effects, it should look similar to what I have above.

    Final Product

Here's my final product! I have used this in web templates, and signatures in the past.

If you have any questions, or comments, please post below and we can help answer them! Thanks!

After that, I would change the hue to make it all bronze and get rid of those multicolored spots.

Good point, possibly adding a colorize effect (or something to that extent). Thanks for helping out!

I can't imagine the difference would be too huge, but I may be confused. Its a very very faint texture, you must agree =).

When you add the noise, tick "Monochromatic" and you won't get several colors of dots.
