nice if thats all from scratch.. very nice ! only thing that bothers me is the moon (i think) and the sun (i think) lack detail that it wants so bad

Its alright for a first, but you need to practise...
i suggest making like 50 nebulas, even if theyre shit, make lots, and make lots of textures for planets, then try some stuff, nebulas seem to be the most important in space scenes... and they arent too hard, airbrushing, smudging and some photo manipulation with clouds, just practise and you will get better.

It's nice for a first. However, there are a few things that I can think of right away. I'll only comment the second version, since it's better than the first one.

You did add some texture to both the sun and the moon, but I think you could still add more detail to them to make them look more realistic. The earth is really nicely done from scratch, but it looks a bit flat, try to add something more to it.
I really like the way you did the sun rays, they look quite nice.
As rob already said, you should definently add some nebulas, maybe a planet or two far away.

I'd like to see the final piece, if you decide to still work on it.

I think that the sun should be brighter, and you should smooth the edges of the moon.
