There are some brushes that come stock with photoshop, look for them they are called wet works or something similar... go to Edit>Presets manager and look through all the categories untill you find them, they work really really well with this tutorial

i'd smudge it to make it smaller and differently shaped then use the scattering and sharpen it then move it to one side to get a slightly different effect. but it looks pretty good

I like the effect but it aint one i would use
The tut is written nice and semi-detailed but if a lesser experianced photosho user would to read it they might have troubles understanding it et.c

I like the effort, but there's more drastic ways of smudging. A bg like this could be easily achieved by just randomly picking some textures and setting the burns.


How does this work with lighter colors? I mean like does it look okay?
