You tried the tut i tried
i can see quite a bit what you did wrong though....
the bevell is the wrong way round, it looks like the lava holes are sticking up rather than underneath the metal plate
The brushing aint right on the metal...
and the orb thing doesnt look reflecting or like an orbat all... good try though

My shitty attempt:
lol the wires are so shit on mine

wait is that animated? it loooks like it is but arghh +kills eyes by staring at it for an hour+ maybe i'm just insane :P
.
-
looks good nice and simpilish but i would lose the animation or make it more meaningfull to the actual sig
-
oooo dutchdesigns? i love those kinda sigs... but you should put a pic in the big circle.
-
I don't know if its just me, but the light sorce in both the sig, and bens try at it have 2 seperate cources. one is from the right lighting up the metal background, and the other is from above in bens, or the side in wouwous. For me its just messing with my eyes, but i would say get the shadows and highlights corrected to 1 light source and not 2.

You've bevelled the bg layer. That's why the border is messed up. Make a new layer ontop of everything else, and get the marquee tool, right click, select all. Right click, stroke. 2px black =)

Thx all... And yes this tut was from dutchdesignz.com
And I'm working on the border... But I don't know anything I can use as a render... Suggestions?
EDIT: I added a border wich overlaps (:huh the bevelled metallic layer...
Still need a render tough...
