From what i've read, these are special discs that can store up to 25gb on a single layer or 50gb on a dual-layer disc, and are rather new bits of very fancy technology. One recently came into my posession but i cant play anything on it, my computer doesn't like it (hates it, to be more precise). Has anyone else heard of these or seen them, or know how to make them work without having special players for them?

well, considering it requires a laser much smaller than cd & dvd readers... you need a blu-ray reader drive...

yeah they're so cool, and VERY shiny. Don't reckon the prices will be too friendly when the players and stuff first come out though... btw bfg i've already checked that site :P Trust my boyfriend to give me something i cant even play, it's got ALL the music from his laptop and the film madagascar on it.. so annoying that i can't access it!

The only problem with blu-ray is that you could loose 1gb of data in one scratch. What they need is a replacable reflectionless refractionless plastic sheet you can slap on the bottom so it gets scratched instead...

Actually blu-ray's have a hard cover, instead of soft like the regular DVD's.

Its supposed to be pretty hard to damage the disc's surface, with regular use.

They already have cd and DVD scratch protectors. I sue them regulary? They should work with blu-ray's just fine.
