    I've always preferred rosewood fretboards over maple. Just my personal opinion though.

    Well they're both different types of wood, obviously. Maple has a smoother feel then rosewood, i quite like my friends maple neck. Mine is a rosewood though , and i get along real well with it ^.^

    If you're going for looks get the maple. THe head looks stupid on the rosewood.

    Maple. As Crofty said, the head looks better with it.

    I don't play guitar, but I prefer Rosewood because it most often produces a better tone than maple.

    No that's generally the pickups / amp. + they'll be varnished anyways. So it'll only add Very slightly to the tone.

    Maybe not varnished but y'know...
