    It looks ALOT like you've used filters, try to use brushing skills and other methods to add different looks to your art, also. Try not to use such saturated colours, they tend to ruin peices, and you may want to look up "Multicolouring Tutorials" To add more depth and colour generally.

    I like the 'glossy' look to it though, that's pretty cool :P

    The original piece, granted, had a lot of filters. The actual ball is mainly blending effects.

    Ya, it's saturated, but I personally think it adds to the effect. But I will keep the statement in mind.

    EDIT: Yeah, if you want to know what the filters are, they are "polar coordinates", a slight twirl, and, uhh, that's it.
