    She's asked me to find her a notebook, or laptop...whichever you call it.

    Looking to spend 400 or 500 for:

    I want it to be windows xp, with at least 256 ram.
    Processor speed i don't really know, she's not going to be doing anything more than email, and word processing. (ie no games, no photoshop, etc.)
    Hard drive probably 20 gigs is enough.



    Anyone got any leads?

    dell's got some nice cheap ones. pretty much every major company has laptops around that price.

    I don't know why you are so against dells. I've had my dell inspiron 6000 for almost 4 or 5 months and I really enjoy it. No problems at all, and the price was good.

    I'm on a Dell at the moment, it works great for a £400 PC. And i have a Dell Laptop which is tres bien! :P

    Well, dell's usually have cheap parts. They try to cut price, with cheap parts. It's only my opinion. Every dell I have ever been on has messed up, and I had this hp for over 3-4 years, and it has over 10 OS's on it. No problems.
