i always hear Wacom tablets are really good but they are around £100 for the entry level but ya can get a A4 sized wireless one for around £70 by trust which are ok for a first one. i have the trust 3100 which is pretty good but i dont use it half as much as i should and that set me back £45

Don't buy a Trust, they are well known we-destroy-ourselves-tablets. Wacom Graphire4 is a very good choice. And remember: a bigger tablet probably doesn't give you better result, if you aren't really advanced. Almost everyone I've talked to have said the same thing. This is the only place where people actually believe they will become better if they own a bigger tablet.. :S I own a Graphire3, A5, which is perfectly fine. You won't need a bigger, which is great cause then you save money. :P And I don't think wireless is needed either. I've never had any trouble with the wire on mine..

Maybe not buy it from there, but that is the one I meant. :P I have the same size, but the previous model. You don't need bigger, trust me (especially not for your first)!

Really doesn't mmatter too much. I use a really cheap make tbalet no one has ever heard of. It's just the pen that makes it easier, the levels of sensitivity don't matter tooooo much ALthough if you wanna spend a fair bit, get a wacom
