I won't post my specs because their embarrassingly bad, I need to upgrade it asap. I've been saying that for a while now, my money always ends up going else where though.
I need a new graphics card more than anything, the one I have now is like... old.

    My best pc in the house is;

    19" TFT Monitor
AMD Athlon 6000+ Dual core 3.ghz per core
3GB DDR2 ram (apparantly xp wont recognise more than that)
    Geforce 7950 GXT PCI-E
Only a 120gb HD though, serious upgrade needed there.
Only use headphones atm, they are quite high quality i think, good bass, and they dont disturb other people lol.

PSU is only 500watt too that needs an upgrade but it has a blue LED fan which is pretty

Gonna give it an overhaul in october, i'm quite a mad pc gamer so instead of buying consoles, I upgrade my pc.

I seriously need a new computer, but I cba going and getting the money, and if I was going to I'd blow it all on a korg M3...

However, current specs, courtesy of CPU-Z and my memory:
    Sempron 3100+ Palermo clock 1.8GHz
    Abit KV8 Pro motherboard
1.5 Gb of memory across two sticks, DDR, PC3200, 208MHz.
    Shit 128MB asus graphics card.
    120GB HDD.
    400W PSU
    MBox2 mini USB sound card.
Sennheiser eH150 headphones, but I sometimes use my PA. Thinking of getting monitor speakers.
Windows XP Prorate Edition. Or, Pro Pirate. ;P
Used to use SuSE too, but don't any more.
Disks are always full. It is futile to try to get more disk space. Data expands to fill any void.

Hah catalyst, if you want a REAL FAST hdd, get a solid state but they're expensive for a small amount of memory... 36gb = srs money.

Probably along the lines of $1,000 USD per GB

yeah SSD's may be real fast, but capacity is still much lower than HDD's, and is way more difficult to recover data.

My PC is alright, just haven't paid any attention to any major upgrades for a while:

    19" Sony LCD Monitor
    Altec Lansing VS4121 speakers
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.40GHz (Gigabyte Technology motherboard)
    1.5GB RAM across 3 sticks
    128MB ATI Radeon 9600
    244GB HDD (3 drive partition) + 500GB external
    XP Pro and Ubuntu

Laptop is shit... looking into getting a Macbook in the fall.

    Sony Vaio FS 740/W
    Intel Pentium M 1.73GHZ
    1GB RAM
    80GB HDD
    128MB Mobile Intel card
    XP Pro

Sequential transfer rates with SSD drives are probably not incredibly better than HDDs, afaik. I setup a drive in RAM on a linux box a while back to run some stats on it... I wasn't very impressed with the overall throughput but the IOPS was incredibly faster than the hard drive that I compared it to. Many hundreds of times faster. There are both flash and RAM based SSDs, both with downsides (flash limits on writes & RAM being volatile).
