Trying a new smudge technique i saw on a tutorial. Cant decide if I like it or not but some parts of the smudging I really liked. what do you guys think? and im not crazy about the text on either.

Well, I think you got something going there.
I like the colors and such on the 1st one, but don't really like the lightsaber path.

#2 just looks overdone on the arms.
Plus the depth seems off.

So I like 1 alot more than 2.

Well this will come in handy some day, the first one looks pretty decent, and its not your fault that the saber goes bad with flow of yoda. but work on the text thats the main thing
