    How do i get the patterns to not fill the whole bg? Like i just want a pattern around some text. Tks in advance.

    Make your pattern over the entire signature (on a new layer above everything), then use a layer mask. Use the pentool or a hard brush with flow on 100% and just brush out the parts you dont want. If you don't know what a layer mask is, look here

    I gave a really quick description of what a layer mask is and does. Hopefully that answered your question.

    Another way to do it, is by using the rectangular marquee tool and selecting the area you want filled. Then go to edit fill.

    Tks guys... i figured out octanes way on my own before so it worked out good. That layer mask idea can come in handy some times. Btw how do i make a pattern? i know how to make one.. but how do i save it?

    select your pattern, then edit > define pattern

    give it a name and click ok

    open a 3x3 document, and make black lines going whichever direction you want. Then go to Edit>Define Pattern, select a name and press ok
