Very clean style. I like it.. But yeah as you said yourself. The "S" needs to be improved, greatly.

Looks pretty good as you said the S needs some touch ups here and there but nonetheless I like the look of it not feeling the bottom text though as the symbol (as well as the template you showed for the site) has a more modern feel to it but the serif font gives off more of a old school feel so the styles sort of clash I would agree with Light that something similiar to futura would work much better.
