Finally a text basics tutorial! Written 4 you!
Everyone was asking for a text tutorial, and nobody else was making on so i decided to make one..Hopefully it helps, though i must say there's probably a better candidate than me to make a tutorial on text.
If you don't like the way I layed out the tutorial, you can tell me I won't be offended. However i went through like 3 different versions trying to figure out how to best show this, needless to say I'm ready to be done with this.
Updated with better colors.
I hope you like it, maybe it helped maybe not.

Looks good man, even though I pretty much just glanced through it it looks like it covers most things you'd want to know about texts

Indeed. The only thing I'd suggest adding is in the part about colouring it similar to your sig/LP, being using masks to make it have some texture and be the same style and so forth.
Religion gives nothing in life, only in death.

props to u papa for making a tut...this'll help everyone out

Good points.
Although I disagree with a lot of it.
I believe one just needs to look at it and think. DOES THIS LOOK GOOD?
Be your own judge, and things will look a whole lot better.

wow loveee it ! ill be loooking back on this for my next sig

I couldn't agree with you more. However getting to the point to where you can decide what looks good is tough. If we all knew what looked good and what was a good design from the very beggining we would all have perfect text.
It's an obvious fact too because you can easily break any of these rules or compleltly not follow this tutorial at all and just do whatever, and still come up with great text.
It's pretty a pretty objective thing really. This tutorial is meant to help teach people some common things to look for in text that will help AID them in making the important desicion, "does this look good?"
However i comepltly agree with you.
LOL, I figured this would be kind of a controversial tutorial.

Thank Immortal, Xaixo, Kyushima, and ministaci. I hope it helps you a bit.

sam's right, but some people just don't know where to start. this looks to be for those people, mostly. spacing, kerning, and leading are good to know though.
oh and nightfire's right too, haha.
good job though.

Thanks papa! This is the most useful tut that's been posted on here in months. Your basics will certainly improve sigs around here, if not lots of other forums too. Woop der it is.
