Version 2 is better in my opinion, I know the only difference is the border from what I can see and a bit more smudging but there are some nice effects going on there. Not bad, keep it up!

if youe smudge, try making it bland with your BG,the one you used doesnt go well with the render.
look at some tut and you will get it.
