Probably better to google it to get a concrete answer, a rather simple definition or rather explanation is anything random that looks pretty. Don't get me wrong there can be a method to the madness, but just for me it's random, I do what I think looks pretty at that time.
I do abstracts to test effects or to pass the time when I feel like just messing around.
