Working on a project for school (a cd cover)... I have a before picture and and picture of what I have so far... Please hit me with some opinions and tips/techniques to make it look better...
I started with:
And I am now with:

I like the idea of what you're doing, but the colours are a bit off though.
Try playing around with the saturation/hue settings and the brightness/contrast.
Also, always make a border, or something that can pass for a border.
It helps put a focus on your picture.
Good luck with the assignement

yea the colors are a tint or 2 off
-
nice idea... but i agree the colors are off
-
i think its a great idea, wish i had that class haha just fix the colors slap on the border like they said and it will be sweet

Something i think you need to fix, find a way to chamnge the lighting in the cite. There are 2 differeny ways light is comeing. On the person, frome the left. And on the city, from the right.

desat the bricks, make them blend in more, also desat him a tiny tiny bit

i love what your trying to do. overall i think its very good.
It looks to me like your trying to get to types of moods, on the left is sunny and on the right is stormy. If this is the case then I would try and get rid of the pinkish clouds on the right and maybe darken up the sky a bit more, the contrast isn't as obvious and i dont think everyone will realise what your trying to do.
The lighting on the bricks is wrong, maybe you can change te lighting to be consistant with the background.
But a+ for concept and overall a nice peice.

looks like the lighting is comming from 3 different directions.
but its a cool idea, i like it.

Thanks for all the critiques and suggestions so far... I'm going to take everything into consideration when I rework it... Keep the critiques coming...
