well the first is better.
Although you could make it a lot better, by doing the following:
- You should create more than one render (the man) and smudge them according to taste
- If you going to make a boarder, keep it to the edge of the image
- Text and lighting doesnt really fit with colour and size!
- Add some effects like C4D or stock images and put them on 'Screen'

Hit some Tutorials dude, this site provides LOADS of great ones!

The first one clearly has more potential.You should try to add more things to your piece.The things that you did wrong(imo): border,text.But these are not that difficult to cure.Your sig also needs depth and the flow is weird.Look up some tuts,try to learn some techniques.Good job and keep it up,you're on a good way! : ) p.s.: Try to keep your contrast lower.
