Default I think I may be giving up on graphics.

I have been on this site for a couple of months now and I really have seen some improvements since I have joined. However, I just don't believe I really fit in here. All my works seem so mediocre compared to some and I am just starting to get a little discouraged. I am just going to post a few of my works that I have done and lead them up to the present and my latest graphic. Please let me know your opinion.

    Thanks

I think that as long as you feel like your improving - and your enjoying yourself while your doing it - you shouldn't give up.

Getting discouraged happens, it's a part of life, but you get stronger by pushing through it. From what you posted, I can easily see how you've been improving. If you give up now, you might never know how good you could have been.

    KIU man, don't give up.

Yeah don't give up man, you just gotta stay dedicated, get out of your comfort zone. That's what I've done lately and I think it's been an improvement. Just keep getting tips, from the people's work you like the most. It can't hurt to asks for cnc every now and then, it helps you. :]

Everyone starts out somewhere, if you have fun making your tags then don't give up. Sure, it may not be as good as some of the tags from the most talented people on here, but they must've came from somewhere. They started out somewhere, probably from somewhere like you are right now. A perfect example is ketg's portfolio. He show's his very first tags up until his later ones, there is great improvement. I say just keep working at it and you will get better.

Honestly at your time what helped me was someone helping me one on one and giving me advice, tutorials and stuff are great, but you can't totally transform into a higher class of designing from it. It'll only help you gathering techniques and applying it to your own work.

I'd be willing to help, personally.

as long as you still wish to be better and you just feel frustrated coz of slow improvement, you should not give up. But if your not happy w/ it its not called giving up. its quitting.

but for me. you should stay. what a great community we all have in this so-called GFx World.

I'm not trying to jack your thread here and please no one c&c or comment on my tags that I will post, but I just wanted to show shadow what can and does happen

one of my older, before I discovered void: and about 6 mths ago

    One of my currents:

It took a lot for me to get where I am, and a lot of that comes from good c&c as well as reading a vast amount of tuts and info about what I can actually do with ps.

I had a very hard time getting away from the "mess look" as most ppl called it and I had no real understanding of how far I can push photoshop ( still learning every day ) to give me depth, lighting and great texture.

About 3 mths ago I took a little r&r away from gfx, I was feeling the same as you, that I couldn't be creative as agato or smart with colours like DR. I felt pretty sorry for myself an felt I was never going to be able to show something off next to one of those dudes, but the longer I went without gfx or void, the longer I realized just how much I actually enjoyed making the art anyways an how even though I felt m y art wasn't as good to stand up to some pros at least I was enjoying my free time and learning as I go along

I felt I have made great change in my tags from than till now. All it takes is some know how bro,

If you feel your not enjoying what you do with your free time than yes you should quit. But if you feel joy after finishing a piece or like messing around with your photoshop at 1am because you "just gatta finish this tag" than don't quit, find some tuts, pm a artist you like an bug them for a psd or tut :P ( cough done a few times ) and hang in there, because I can see as well as others who have posted here , that you have made some improvments.

Don't forget when you read a c&c, no one here has the book of "The way tags are made" everyone has their own taste, an if you feel someone is wrong or don't like there idea of c&c don't worry about it ^^

Hope to see you around ^^
    KIU!!!

no you are not!!.. or at least you should not!! why not?
well let me tell you: it took me ages before I made my first decent tag...
I was on an other forum back then.. my name was lexo.. I only got negative C&C, so I started arguments... ended up in fights.. in the end I was so dissapointed that I quit.., but I came back on a different name.. at first I got still bad comments, but I followed tuts and then it happened: I made this nice sig!! and got nice (even very pleasant) comments>>
and I thought yesyesyes!! (I can show you my first nice tag if you want LOL)
made me proud of myself.. and made me believe in myself again! so.... what I want to say here is: it takes time, lots of practice, lots of C&C, and lots of persistence..
so: no you should not give up; i've seen enough of you to know that there is potential (I might even say TalenT) awaiting to come out!!

edit: PS, nr 3 and 7 are prety damn good tags! I like those.
