where the lines cross eachother should be the focus points (optional)
your render and text should be located at one of the dots

Bleh sometimes the rules make more sense if you are actually making a logo or something that's not for art... I dunno I don't too much care for rules because they set up a barrier to your creativity. (color outside the lines! =D) I really do like your smudge technique though!!! Just wish he'd pop a little more.
