This is a really simple tutorial on how to create a 3d-looking Christmas ornament!

    Step 1

Create a new image, and fill the background in with a color or gradient. I used a red/green gradient to get in the 'spirit'. Add a new layer. On that new layer, select the elliptical marquee tool. Hold shift, and highlight a circle in the center like above.

    Step 2

Select the gradient tool, select a gradient, and fill it in like above.

    Step 3

Double click your circle layer, check stroke and use the above settings to add a border.

    Step 4

Select the ellipse tool, and make a white ellipse like above.

    Step 5

Go into the gaussian blur filter, and use the above settings on your white ellipse. Turn the opacity down to 60%.

    Step 6

Create a new layer, and with the normal marquee tool create a small box like above, then fill it in with a black/white gradient

    Final Product

Here's my final product! Gets the job done, if you ask me! If you have any questions about this tutorial, please post below!

maybe take the text tool and a font like arial, type it in a size that fits, and put a ? at the top of the ornament, rasterize the layer, erase the dot, so it looks like a hanger (the part that hooks to the tree) and colorize it gold colored?

Really good idea, I was thinking about the hanger thing, it was somewhat required.

I decided about not including that in my tutorial b/c of lenght =/. I do what you did!

just noticed this, the gradient on the top part (where the hanger would be attached) has the light coming from a different direction than the bulb itself :P

but I still like it overall

That looks very nice dude. The only part I really do not like about it is the top.

I did post it during the holidays, lol. The only way I could think of is cutting out a green selection then adding some sort of texture to it.
