Default A good laptop for college

So classes are starting soon for me and I need a really good laptop that I can use for school and gfx that is affordable. As of right now I might opt for a macbook air which is probably the highest I will go regarding price. But if there are other laptops that are just as good and affordable that'd be nice. So what are some laptops you guys would recommend.

Well my parents are paying for it. The most I'd go is probably 1200 possibly a bit more.

I would say which out TigerDirect for computer deals, you might be impressed with what you can get your hands on that isn't in mainstream markets.

Definitely check out TigerDirect like Syn said, they will have the best deals and what not. I bought my power supply from with for 55 bucks and the other website I was going to order it from was charging me 85... So that's is one hell of a deal if you ask me. Also, like WR said, if you buy a Mac you're basically buying the name. You are better off buying just a laptop, you will get a better quality for less of a price.

Mac's have the best screens giving the truest representation of colour and are great for graphic work (Why most film companies use them)
Alienware's M11x has great processing power for a laptop and is the cheaper side of alienware's laptops. It's mainly for gaming.. but it has brilliant graphics and has up to 2GB graphic memory. option for i7 processor.
