Alright, I wa s looking for a new style, and I'd figure I'd try out some Grungy stuff. I've never done it before, so give me some tips on things I didn't do so great on.

    Rabies's Tutorial:

    No tutorial:

Sorry for having to use ImageShack...I blame it on Taco for switching servers on EagleImg!

    C&C is very welcome.

I don't know, stylistically they're sound, but I just can't put my finger on what I don't like about them. In the first, the render is too small, so I'm not all that intimidated by it. The brushing is nice, but I think you need less contrast on them. They're both too dark. And that text has to go. Try something simpler.

I love it, can you do a version with some colour added to it?

The idea of the style is a greyscale sig. At most, a sepia tone would be all he could to get the proper effect.

And you hit the nail on the head. I am going for a Greyscale-Grunge effect.

And I really like the contrast going on. Anything less and it looks like it was just slapped together and everything just washes into eachother. But I must say that I like the one I did without a tutorial more than the one I used Rabie's on.

That's fair. I mean I didn't see the progression of contrast. Just my opinion that it looks a little to dark - too black heavy, that is. I would like to see more grey personally, but if you're happy..

I think they both look good, but rather the same. Good work though.
