First attempt at GFX in a while...followed a tutorial. Didn't really add much more besides the render. (i know needs more depth)

what tutorial did you follow? this needs more than depth.. you're lacking blending, lighting, fx... theres no composition.. read more tutorials. If you ever need any help just shoot me a pm ill help, but the tag is a sure failure when you admit to things like "Didn't really add much more besides the render."

Cartoon FX will almost never work well. And neither will that light ray stuff.
You could achieve the same effect, but better. Just download some nice resources.
Look up rule of thirds for text and it will help you place it correctly.

Yeah, definitely needs a lot of work. Text is too big and distracts from the focal point. To me, it looks like a render a background with an outer glow on it. Look at some of the tutorials on here, and follow them. Develop a style. Some like fractals and light, others c4d and brush, other smudge, and variations of these. Learn some techniques.

Your stock looks squished to me. Hold shift when you're free transforming something to keep it proportionate.
