2 New B&W Tags ~

I'm not gonna comment on the second. You know what's wrong.
Ok so, with a black and white tag, you're obviously lacking the colour aspect. This makes them harder to work at because the colour palette of a tag help with so many things. Blending, depth ect.
So, you need to work extra extra hard. With the rose one. you want the rose to completely stand out, so your eyes just zoom to it.
So, what we do is a burn layer. Apply the image and get a small round brush at like 20px?
Zoom in and burn right around the edge. Then do the same with a blur.
Then do a sharpen layer on top of the rose, but tone it done so it doesn't go to sharp.
Also, a gauss blur layer on lighten looks like it may fit well here
