I have another off-topic debate thing for DM to get pissed at. Something I would love some opinions on.
Oh and it's in the Void sub DM. For non-art-related discussions. *wink*
Computer Addiction.
The thought only occured to me a few days ago while out and about, ever find yourself getting exceptionally bored and moody when you're not at home on your own laptop/pc?
I personally use the laptop a damn lot, sometimes strings of hours can go by when you're lost in the world of designing something. Most of the time I barely ever notice it.
The problem arises when other things start to get exceptionally boring regardless of what it may be.
Almost as if you're suffering withdrawel symptoms.
For example I seem to find myself in a mood when I know I need to be doing something, however when I know that I am on my way back to where I want to be, no matter how far away it is my mood increases dramatically. The best example I can give is driving back home vs driving to somewhere.
I think the biggest effect this has is on working. I'm volunteering at the moment in a local charity shop and despite there being a shitload to do (Like literally, shit... and load, you would be suprised at the absolute crap people donate and muggins here has to sort through. We're talking used fucking knickers here) I still seem to clock-watch.
It's not an entirely documented subject but an addiction is always an addiction, and I can't help but think it's spreading rapidly in this techno world. Take all those muppets constantly drained by their smart phones (Robin Williams could stand right in front of them and re-enact the entire second half of Flubber and they still wouldn't notice).
Drop a comment and let me know if anything relates.
