What are your views on people singing the american pledge to the flag in the morning? Our school system was in an uproar last year when one mexican student who had recently come to the US refused to say the pledge during the morning announcements.

I dont' really have an opinion on this one, other than if you came here to start anew and have better opportunities you should take the time to thank the country and those fighting for us.

we used to sing the anthem here in canada. but as we got older, we just kind of stopped. i dont know, its your choice, and no one should hold that aganst you. mostly because america is all about free will.

No public school can force a student to say the pledge, so keep in mind you don't have to. I personally don't say it, and though I do get some weird looks on the first couple days of class for being the only person sitting down, the only country I will pledge my allegance to is Sweden.

I don't think I've ever sung our anthem, other than on a really special occasion, like St David's day, or the start of the Rugby. Or if I just generally feel like singing in Welsh. I can't understand why you guys are asked to pledge at least once a week O.o

I guess its for patriotism, in which Americans are well known for :P I feel if you sing the anthem too much, it starts to lose its meaning.
