Default Layer Selection in CS2...Help Please

Hello all! I don't post here very much so I am sure no one really knows me I just recently upgraded to Adobe Photoshop CS2 9.0 from CS 8.0, and i cannot figure out how to select AROUND a layer in the layer section.

In CS, i was able to CTRL click and then get a selection around the layer i clicked. CS2 has a new feature where if i CTRL click, it will select/un-select multiple layers.

    Picture Version:

I used to be able to "CTRL CLICK" here

And it would result in a Marquee border around here

Adobe Photoshop CS2 9.0 doesn't do this because it has the ability to select multiple layers. Can anyone please tell me how i can get the same results as "CTRL CLICK" did in CS 8.0?

Thanks in advance, and i hope this made sense!

Yeah, that's what you do. You right click on the preview image in the layer box.. and you can pick "select layer transparency"

    Excellent! thanks both!

Know what else i noticed? You can no longer Right click and Select All when you have the marquee tool selected. (doesn't really matter because CRTL A does the trick )
